I'll explain it to you. You have to get someone else to understand it for you.

Field dependence: Cultures look at the total instead of the parts.
Field independence: Cultures look at the parts instead of the total.
Holistic thought: Seeing the whole. Present in Eastern countries.
Dialectical thought: Acceptance of contradiction. Present in Eastern countries.

Barriers to problem solving:

Irrelevant information can confuse you.
Functional fixedness is thinking that an item only has one function.
Mental sets can stop you from finding new ways to do things.
Unnecessary constraints are when we limit ourselves when we don’t have to do so.

We solve problems through trial and error, algorithms, and heuristics like subgoals, working backwards, analogies, and changing representations.

Decision making is making a choice between two or more equal choices where one is better for us. Additive strategy is when you rate 2 or more choices on various factors, and rate the factors on importance. Elimination by aspects is when you discard a choice because something about it is unacceptable. Decision making is often affected by emotions.

Cognitive biases:

Availability heuristics are when you overestimate the improbable because you remember the improbable. Representative heuristics are effectively stereotypes.

This is my problem. Everything on my clipboard is from an ongoing game. I spend way too much time here...

You'd be surprised. In the total hick town I live in, half the people don't know what algebra is.
