For all you gamers out there posting in GD we're making a public Mumble and a public TeamSpeak available for your use. If you have any questions or would like us to set up permanent channels for your clan or your gaming needs contact us ITT.
Mumble is a fairly feature complete functional equivalent to Ventrilo and TeamSpeak except that it's free software! The makers of Vent and TeamSpeak both have freebie licenses available to users that need to run small servers but both products cost money to license in bulk.
To get started with Mumble, download the Mumble client at http://mumble.sourceforge.net
Our mumble server is listening on the default port (64738) at apollo.corbe.net
TeamSpeak is a high capacity and low latency and low bandwidth voice tool used by gamers for out-of-game communications. It's most useful when in-game comms is either laggy or non-existent or when alternatives (such as skype conferences) become cumbersome, slow or unavailable, Our teamspeak server can be accessed at apollo.corbe.net on port 3389. If you need help creating and managing channels then PM your auth token and channel details and I'll get you set up.
Ventrilo is just garbage software. We don't run Vent mostly because they come configured by default to use the GSM codec and they helpfully don't include it in the Mac client. Please use Mumble instead.
Teamspeak is not free software. We have a licensed connection cap of 512 users. The server sits empty the majority of the time but occasionally we get a rather large group of Eve Online users that log into it and as a result we sometimes run out of connection space and thus you may not always be able to connect.
Nobody wants to listen to you chewing or snoring or whatever other noises you're making that the mic will pic up
