Nederlandse Mafia?

LOL. I always call it Dutchlish.

I have a nasty habit of speaking Dutchlish to my folks, because my Dutch is steadily getting worse, although the recent Dutch mafia and my 8 days in Holland speaking only Dutch have certainly made things a bit better. I also picked up a couple of novels in Holland. But now that I'm done reading them I have to find a place here that sells Dutch books.... Perhaps the Dutch Cash and Carry.

I learned English while watching Family Ties and the Cosby Show...

(Am I dating myself now?)

Pronunciation is easy  Just pronounce each letter... Well, ok, maybe not, because the diphthongs are enough to put anyone's tongue in knots.

Try "Scheveningen" (Ok, that's just being mean).

Or go to this site to get some initial exposure to the Dutch Alphabet: http://www.smartphrase.com/Dutch/du_pronunciation.shtml

This site isn't bad either: http://www.stanford.edu/~sipma/dupron.html

http://www.scheveningen.nl/

It's a town in South Holland and we test to see if people are truly Dutch or not because it's so hard to pronounce properly.

Vraak, someone revived the old thread. Yes, we've already had the Dutch mafia game :)
