I doubt it's intended as such. I think it's somewhat common, and beyond that, one of the events is figure skating. That's a sport the Russians have been/should be looking forward to. If they thought it was a slap in the face, they'd have avoided giving it to figure skating.

Yeah, often qualifiers for longer events happen before the Opening in both Summer & Winter.

More importantly, is there somewhere online where you can watch the opening live? I'm not finding anything reliable.

and lol at skicross quaterfinals, sweden in the lead over the last jump, he cant land the jump and falls, taking with him 2 others. So 1 guy glides to the finish first, then three men almost in a line come gliding over the finish line. Since the top 2 would qualify for the semis they had to sort it out on a photo finish.

The photo finish is fantastic, in slowotion a guy comes slowly cross the line, followed by three men in diffrent crash-i am now gliding- positions.

Safe to say, the swede didnt make it.
