Well... I had this idea about renting out the garage beneath our apartment and filling it with tables but our neighbor, who currently rents the garage, has decided she's not moving out. Poo.

Alright, so...

I'm headed out of town today and will not have internet access again until July 8th. I assume people want to start making their plans.

We will definitely be doing this thing during the last weekend in August. Probably a long weekend (Thurs-Mon?) for those who can get extra time off. As of now, we still have no large accommodations. This could change. However, assume that it will not, which means that people would need to rent or chip in on hotel rooms. There's a decent hotel right down the street from my house. They may even have conference rooms.

When I get back from Rainbow I will start to organize the specifics, checking prices, making reservations, etc. Just wanted to get the dates solidified so that y'all can make your travel plans.

Xine and I spoke at length about this. We're still looking into alternatives but have ruled the obvious ones out. If none appear, we can put some of our furniture in the garage and fit enough tables for the group in our living room. It might be a little cramped but this is supposed to be my revenge, right?

This means that people will have to make sleeping arrangements but there are two decent hotels around the corner and and a relatively cheap luxury resort about ten minutes drive away. Room sharing should make things pretty affordable and we can probably make room for a couple of broke people though I'm not going to promise comfort. I'll try to remember to add links to hotel price/reservation stuff when I'm not on my way to bed. Need to update the OP too, methinks.

Singer already bought her tickets. As did IS.

Well, apparently Scumstorm starts a day earlier for you anyway, Brandi. Xine changed her mind about the cake and will be requiring your skills on Wednesday evening.

The Days Inn is the closest, but Holiday Inn is also within easy walking distance. If you're willing to be about a ten minute drive away and want to pay a little more for a

cooler place, I'd suggest Edgefield.

FTR, even though I've been taking a break from MS, I'm still checking this thread every couple of days and very excited about Scumstorm.

This year, the first day of Scumstorm coincides with Last Thursday. How would people feel about checking that out before we head back here? It's a bit of a commute but absolutely worth it if you want to see some real Portland culture including: live local music, art, alcohol, food, a rave on a bike, hula-hooping, and people on stilts.

The great thing about pregnant women is... you know they put out.

So... I PMed the addy to people who needed it. Exact schedule is going to be fast and loose like it was last time. Those who can make it Thursday evening can meet up with us at Last Thursday. I'm assuming srs bsns gaming will start on Friday and go through Sunday. Monday is cleanup and farewell time. That's about as scheduled as we're going to get until people get here.

Geocaching has been suggested. There are some caches in the neighborhood and there are rumors of a GPS being present at some point.

Also, singer seems to be alive.

Xine doesn't eat beef/pork so the chicken garlic works for her too. I'll eat pretty much any pizza but would rather not have mushrooms, so yeah, we're in two camps. Also, meat is good.

Not sure how many people will be here at pizza time. Somewhere between 10-15 is a good guess.

Miyu is vegetarian. I question the notion of anyone not liking pineapple. Also, can we get one pizza with brains on it, in case zombies show up?

Well, it's official...

Having dropped off the last representatives of the SDC, I have returned to an apartment that, for the first time in over two weeks, contains only the people who are on the lease. Scumstorm 2011 is in the rear-view mirror and it's eerily quiet here. A copious number of games were played, ranging from silly to serious. Q dominated the poker table, Fate failed to out-psychoanalyze Sudo, and jeep showed us why he's only famous for his town game.

People found their way here from as far away as Tampa, DC, San Diego, and Seattle. The original Scumstormtroopers enjoyed another excuse to bond and we added a couple more locals to our fold.

Over the next coupe of days, as the sleep deprivation wears off, I'm sure we'll be posting some recaps and pics. For now, I'd just like to say thanks to everyone for taking the time to come hang out. Thanks for your contributions. More importantly, thanks for your company. It was an excellent reminder of why I've been a part of this community for so long.
