Troll has voted for the last choice but could make any of the other three without too much trouble.

Troll will hit that poll right quick but Troll no watches GD particularly closely so Troll could pretty easily have missed it. It might be worth it to send PMs to those who have expressed interest to let them know that it exists. Troll might do that tomorrow when Troll has a bit of time.

Troll should have a place to sleep so you no will need to worry about that. On the other hand, as Troll said earlier, Troll be happy to help with the cost of a suite or whatever.

Troll will probably be interested in finding spots for breakfast; that be a meal Troll enjoys having out as much as about any other in settings like the ones we be talking about and Troll will be teaching 7:30 AM classes this summer up until the 20th so Troll will be used to getting up early during the weekend in question. An evening (or afternoon) at some local brewery/pub (and Troll knows there should be many there) for those that be of age and would enjoy such things would also appeal (probably just one as Troll no wants to exclude those who no could participate in that.)

As far as catchy names, Troll has non-catchy ones to rule out!

Back when Troll was younger Troll would just have stayed up late enough that Troll would be able to sleep in. Troll will still try to do that this time but nowadays Troll gets sleepy (and sometimes cranky) when Troll misses sleep rather more quickly. Depending on what be happening Troll might or might not be of use to anyone after some pumpkin time or other. Having said that, if it be 4:00 AM when the pancake haus be visited Troll will be up for them even if it means just getting up early enough to do it.

The names Troll provided were all non-catchy ones. If one of them gets used as the seed for some more delicious idea that be fine with Troll. Troll would just request that it be for which the sequel could be named <Catchynamehere> II: Fabio's Revenge. Scumstorm would seem to work for that.

*edit* and the one Sudo_Nym said there while Troll was typing this would work as well. Well, sort of.

It no be what Ythill will need to get revenge for. It be what Fabio will need to get revenge for. There be some chance that we will have to plan in advance to retroactively change some events to fit continuity; Troll will need to see how this script finalizes first.

In any case, make an executive decision and catchify that title be Troll's call at this time.

No worry Sudo_Nym, Troll was once the designated drinker for a bowling team. Troll's tolerance and consumption habits no be what them once were but Troll can certainly drink for two in your average mafia-based drinking games with no trouble. Troll has your back (or at least your drinks.)

Should Troll start looking into buying train tickets for this at this point? How set do the dates be now?

It probably be worth pointing out that Troll could probably be fine with as little as a week's advanced notice as trains no fill up that far in advance normally and we no be doing something on a holiday weekend so far as Troll knows. Troll simply likes to be prepared further in advance when possible sometimes.

So here be Troll's current plans.

Troll will catch a morning train on Friday and arrive in Portland sometime around noon. Troll will either meet up with Troll's friends for the day, meet with scummers who be arriving early or amuse Troll on Troll's own for a while.

Troll will be bringing Robo Rally and Illuminati (with the Y2K expansion) as far as games go. We need not play either but Troll be fond of both.

Troll sort of be thinking that the Tugboat might be nice for a Friday late afternoon/early evening activity and that we could have some sort of breakfast trip on Sunday Morning. Troll might vote for the Pancake house thing as a Saturday at 3:00/4:00 AM type activity. Other than that Troll be flexible about the excursions. Troll envisions Saturday being a day for games and trips for people to choose between.

Troll be happy to help with the food however Xine would like help but be fine letting her be in charge. Troll would be happy to participate in a shopping trip early in the event if that was to come up for instance. Troll (as stated elsewhere) be vegetarian but has no problem helping to prepare all sorts of foods as we deem useful.

Troll will head home on Monday morning but expects to spend the evening Sunday with Troll's friends in the area as Troll suspects that most others will leave during the day. Troll will see how much them be willing to come and do with us over the weekend; them should be up for some fun though.

If there be other things that it would be handy for Troll to establish now do let Troll know.

Troll has as of now procured Train tickets for the weekend in question. Troll be scheduled to arrive at 1:50 PM on Friday the 20th and depart at 12:15 PM on Monday the 23rd. Troll had thought there was some chance that Troll's friends in Portland would have folding tables that we could use but Troll talked to them today and it turns out that no be the case. Them most likely be in Troll's garage right now it turns out and getting them there from Seattle almost certainly no be worth the effort.

@Xine, you can plan on having Troll available to help with food in whatever ways be handy during the weekend. Troll largely cares little about it but Troll knows that it be good to have available over longer events like these so that people no get cranky.

Oh, and Troll has decided Troll will be bringing a bottle of Aquavit to share with those who enjoy a drink from time to time (assuming Troll remembers to pick one up shortly before the trip) and a copy of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? on DVD which Troll thinks be a good training movie for mafia related things. It also be Troll's overall favorite movie. If it gets watched Troll will be happy; if not then it no will have taken up that much space.

Troll be tempted to bring a karaoke machine to hook up to a television but Troll no be convinced that this be that easy to transport on the Train. Troll will think about that one. Perhaps others can talk about how much it would be appreciated (either with it's presence or absence.) It actually belongs to Troll's friend in Portland and him might not mind Troll bringing it so that him has it down there anyhow.

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf no be about mafia in any direct way but it do be about, well, Troll no will ruin it if you no have seen it. Troll does claim that there be things to learn from it that would be handy when playing mafia. It be an adaption of an Edward Albee play and stars Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton at their finest. Troll highly recommends it to anyone. And now that Troll has played it up Troll be sure it will disappoint all who watch it based on these recommendations.

Troll no has that much interest in playing video games during Scumstorm but Troll does have a Wii and Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Troll will bring the game and a controller if other wish to play it during the day. Them take up little space.

There be a small chance that one of Troll's former students will come with Troll if she gets done with her camping soon enough. It also turns out that another of Troll's former students who just graduated from the University of Washington now be in the Portland Area. Troll might see if he and his wife would care to join us for some activities. Troll's first former student be Troll's way to contact them offhand so that will depend on the camping as well.

Does there be an address posted for the place we will be gathering yet (Troll could search the thread but Troll be feeling unenergetic)? Troll would like to start investigating how Troll will be getting there from the Train Station when Troll arrives on the 20th. Or, if something else makes sense Troll probably wants to start sorting that.

@Ythill, Well, Troll be coming in around 2:00-ish. Troll suspects that might be earlier than the Tugboat timing be planned for. In any case, Troll has talked with Xine and it seems that the two of us will probably do some shopping for provisions once Troll arrives (and she be done with work.) Once that be done Troll imagines Troll will head to the Tugboat and get started on the social lubrication.

@Ythill, Troll expects Troll's friend to be working when Troll gets into town. Troll had expected to have to amuse Trollself for a while. As Troll no has any great fear of spending time on public transportation Troll no be overly opposed to the trip you be describing. Troll supposes it might depend on exactly how early others planned to show up at the Tugboat. Troll be capable of spending 4 hours drinking in a bar Troll no be used to on Troll's own but it no be Troll's first choice of activities these days.

Troll really be pretty unsure how ReaperCharlie plans to day kill Troll if him no be there (maybe him just be that good a shot?) Troll also no thought that a pirate would let something like gas money stop him from doing what him wanted.

Just goes to show how much Troll no knows.

Actually in terms of serious advice, Troll no knows how much gas would be but Troll wonders if bus tickets might be competitive price-wise. Perhaps Troll be more willing to use non-driving means of transportation that most but the busses be fairly cheap and pretty reliable last time Troll checked.

@Ythill, yeah, Troll meant serious compared to the rest of Troll's post. It no was clear. Actually, it be the carrying on the conversation that Troll had in mind as being the most work; Troll really doesn't enjoy conversations with random people but Troll would feel obligated to do so in a hitchhiking situation if the person who picked Troll up seemed to want it. Troll probably comes across as somewhat friendly at times on these forums but it be mostly a facade.

Troll knew of the Green Tortise though Troll never took it. Troll be sad to hear that it be defunct at this point.

So Troll had a lovely time during the meet. Troll be happy with the pictures even though them no capture all the fun that was had. Troll blames the primary photographer.

Good games were had (little mafia but we had a delightful game of Psychiatrist) and Troll was pleased to see both Roborally and Illuminati get some play time. Them have been missing that sitting on Troll's bookshelf the past number of years. Troll even got some of the stragglers Sunday evening to sit through Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? which might have helped them understand why Troll was so terrible to play games with when Troll says that George be the embodiment of how Troll aims to play Troll's games.

All the scummers (and the others who wandered by) were good people so far as Troll could tell and them were all delightfully good at disguising their contempt for Troll. Troll looks forward to doing this again the next time it be on the West Coast.

@Ythill, in terms of creepiness, at least you made Brandi's list of people worth mentioning for any reason. Troll apparently no was memorable enough to even do that.

Sadly this be largely a Pacific Northwest party where you should plan on about half as many people as you invite showing up (as opposed to many places where you can plan on more than you invited showing up.) Troll assumes that we will have a number of well intentioned scummers bail at various minutes leading up to the last one. Needing a larger space would be lovely but Troll be pretty skeptical.

@Various Scummers, this be your chance to prove Troll wrong. It probably be the only one you will get so it be best to do it now (and by now Troll means next summer) just to make sure you get the chance to experience such a rare thing at least once in your life.

Also, just for the record, in a non sequitur way, sometimes it seems that packages ship much later than Troll expects when Troll orders things. Go figure.

Hmm, dead goats probably no help that much but it be the next obvious place to go. You could probably skip some steps in the progression by making them babies (or maybe an endangered sub-species of goat.)

In any case, it be good to get this out of your system now before we roll around to next summer Troll thinks.

Apparently Troll had other uses for those dead, baby, endangered goats that would be available?

@Ythill, as a vegetarian Troll finds that idea offensive. *grins*

Well, Troll does plan to be there so that does largely kill any subtlety that it would have had previously given Troll's inherent bombastity. Perhaps an extra amount of subtle in some form would be of use.

As far as the Subtitle goes, Troll still likes "Fabio's Revenge." Though after HackerHuck's apparent death perhaps "Captain Avatar's Revenge" be more fitting.

We could also play on the theme from last year in other ways: Scumstorm 2011: The Depantsinating.

With "Summer of Like", Troll kind of likes the title but Troll no be in like with the title.

So here be the three responses Troll be considering going with here. Troll no feeling choosey about such things this morning so you can get all three.

"Hmm, Scumstorm 2011: Electric Revenge of Son of Wife of Fabio, the Quickening?"

"Wait, Obi-Wan needs revenge? NOOOOOOO!"

"That be more of a Scumstorm 2013 subtitle as we need to establish the family's pattern of revenge and then the presence of the son first."

Speaking of games, everyone with better memories than Troll should go add the games that were played at Scumstorm 2010 on the wiki page that Troll just thought to put up a bit ago. Other things (like Miyu's preference for tighter or no Sudo_Nym pants, for example) be things that could be added as well Troll imagines.

If we want something short, either of the two could mud wrestle Troll. With Troll's badminton shoulder as a known weakness (now that Troll be making this post) Troll imagines Troll would be disposed of most quickly by anyone who was trying. That be to say that Troll no would come even close to being John Candy's character in Stripes in such a situation.

(Soon there will be) Troll in da house!

Troll's goal this trip will be to turn Obi's focus from killing Sudo-Nym to a love of dinosaurs. Troll supposes that this likely will simply result in him wanting to kill Sudo_Nym with dinosaurs.

Troll be sure that dinosaurs could help with that in some way.

Troll has nostalgia for when Troll was young and thought dinosaurs were particularly fascinating. Troll apparently wants to relive that time vicariously through Obi.

Seattle no be so good at dealing with snow. We only got about 2 inches but it was enough to shut down most of the city for two days. Today the Seattle Public School District and the University of Washington were wise enough to accept that and just cancel classes but it seems that the Seattle Community College District wanted to be brave so them had classes starting at 10:00. That meant that Troll got to go in and give an exam to half of the class that showed up (and that Troll will have to give it again on Monday for the half that didn't make it in.) Troll managed to hurt Troll's arm pushing someone's car out of a spot where it was stuck in the snow and the average waiting time for busses today was about 50 minutes (as opposed to most days where Troll averages around 4 or 5 minutes wait per bus.) Troll be sufficiently exhausted now.

All of which be Troll's way of saying that we should totally call ourselves the Scumosaurs. Troll gets dibs on the Trollceretops!

@Ythill, what, you no can even wait two weeks? Troll will be jealous then of the fun you be having. Not that jealous though as Troll supports you all having it and jealous no be as lazy a state as Troll likes to be in, of course.

Oh, and can we go to the 24 hour pancake house at 4:00 in the morning on Sunday after gaming this time? Troll vaguely regrets that we no did that during Scumstorm.

@chkflip, them put up with Troll at the last one so Troll be sure that you would be welcome at the next. It probably be a bit early to get people to commit to swinging by Sacramento on the way but Troll knows that people from California be planning on making the trip this coming year so it should be arrangeable. No give up hope just yet.

@ReaperCharlie, the best* game we play be Illunimati! You can check now the game thread in MishMash be going for that if you like. Most of the games be nice and quick to pick up and so long as Troll no will be able to distract you with the flirting you love** you should do fine at them all.

-Zorblag R`Lyeh

*Best be subjective but still clearly true as a descriptor.

**If Troll's flirting distracts you to the point where you no can play a game reasonably then you deserve to lose said game (and enjoy the Troll experience.)

So Goofbash moves to Portland, what be the porblem?

@Ythill, that sounds OK but it seems to involve a change of teams midway through for at least one player which Troll no loves. Troll loves the completely open nature of Illuminati! which still facilitates plenty of plotting and scheming. Betrayal might not be the name of the game but it's, well, you know ...

@Ythill, Troll be suspicious but hopes to give it a look in a couple weeks to make a more informed judgment. It will be hard for the game to outstrip Troll's enjoyment of Illuminati! though. Troll likes that game a lot.

It might all work out, but Troll needs to be informed of when Oman will be about so Troll can come visit and buy him the rounds of drinks that him earned when him be there. And possibly wing his man.

Oh, and rhubarb pie do be delightful so far as pies go. Troll tends to agree with HackerHuck; strawberries no add anything to them that them no had going for them already. Ripe, sweet strawberries be great but the rhubarb be excellent without them.

One week from now Troll should be in Portland. Troll be looking forward to it. If there be anything that people expect Troll to bring now be the time to remind Troll of it.

Hmm, there's some chance Troll might give a call about Friday evening for Ythill and Xine (and potentially others) to join Troll and others for a gathering if them will be free. Troll be in the process of seeing when Troll's former student and his wife be free early in the weekend and we might be doing something somewhere public. If the Scumtroopers could make it to that Troll would view it as a positive thing. Troll will probably make some calls come next Thursday and Friday about such things.

This be a post to say that Troll does in fact still exist and does still be planning on making this. If Troll can help with planning and what not Troll should be reachable from here on out.

Having said that, what do we need to settle at this point to make things work? Troll assumes that first and foremost a location be in order?

So at this point Troll probably plans on coming in Thursday during the day, leaving Monday afternoon and renting a hotel room for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. The hotel room would then be free for all to use when any needed some down time away from everyone throughout the meet. If any be interested in pitching in for it Troll no would complain at all though it no strictly be necessary. Further Troll be assuming that staying with Ythill and Xine for the first night would be doable. That also assumes that we be firm on doing this at the Ythill/Xine home.

Does that all sound reasonable? If so Troll would need the information for the hotels to book a reservation though as it no be a prime spot the timing for that no be so vital.

Jello shots should be good fun, though Troll no be sure that Troll needs to get any more inebriated this time than Troll has in the past so Troll will tentatively plan on moderation.

As an update Troll might or might not be bringing a friend along for the fun this year. Troll still plans on getting a hotel room for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights so that there be a place nearby out of the action when people need breaks. Be there anything else (other than, clearly, Illuminati and Roborally) that Troll should be planning on bringing this time?

@startransmission, Troll thinks that you should absolutely plan on coming as should any others in the area who no have made it in the past. Other than Troll most there be pretty good at meeting new people and you can ignore Troll for the most part.

@everyone, at this point Troll has now reserved train tickets. Troll will be arriving at around 3:00 on Thursday and heading out Monday late afternoon. Troll's plan for Thursday be to try to have a late lunch/early dinner at the restaurant that Xine works for (Troll intended to do this on Troll's last trip but it no happened) and then Troll assumes that the last Thursday thing should be fine with Troll. Troll assumes that more specific details can be worked out when we get closer. Troll has also booked a room with two queen beds a the Days Inn for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Troll's plan be for it to be available for anyone who no lives in the area who needs some down-time during the meet or whatever else makes the best use of it.

@singersigner, Troll looks forward to seeing you as well! Happily Troll be unlikely to hit a burnout wall just after Troll starts any games we might play during this trip and pull another disappearing act.

@startransmission, Xine and Ythill be hosting so the event will be at their place which Troll thinks be out essentially in Gresham. Troll be sure that they be able to provide more specific directions but that be the general area. It also be right near the hotels that Ythill provided links to on the first post of the thread if you want something more specific right now.

@Startransmission, Troll seems to recall a couple newbie games that Troll replaced in as scum that you were playing in. The first was your first game on the site? The second wasn't too long after that. Troll no recalls all that much in the way of details beyond that but Troll be sure Troll will get reminded.

So as far as pizza goes, Troll be vegetarian but Troll suspects that Troll be the only one coming for whom that be the case. The selections now all look fine to Troll offhand. If something Troll could eat happened to be made with the spinach alfredo or BBQ sauce Troll no would complain at all but it no be at all necessary.

Troll looks forward to seeing people starting tomorrow!

So Troll now be the only one still awake at Scumstorm just now. It speaks volumes of everyone here that them be willing to sleep with Troll still about, prowling the premises. The good bits be still to come.
