Like the music and the book one a while back. People join, take turns recommending a film, everybody watches it and comments on it for a couple weeks.

I don't know, just an idea. We might benefit from it.

This project will not work effectively for you unless you have a way of obtaining movies (store or online or delivery or breaking the law or whatever).

Also, I'm all for obscure movies as long as they are available.

Thrilled at the enthusiasm! I will put in a queue list.

I'm planning on letting this thread sit for a couple days before we start. Some things need to be worked out. For example, for how long should we focus on a movie? A week or two weeks?

I have seen the original Sleuth many times, and it's a fantastic movie. Haven't seen the remake though. Harold Pinter wrote the screenplay, so I'm excited.

I have seen the first half of it. Micheal Kaine has been wonderful. I loved Laurence Olivier in the original, I loved Micheal Kaine in the original, and I love Kaine now. What made Laurence Olivier's performance so memorable in the original was that Olivier was a refined, crème de la crème character actor. The original emphasized the class differences between Milo and Wycke a great deal more than this update, so it made Olivier stand out well.

I think this is the kind of film that Pinter would have excelled in writing.

Yep, Pokerface's turn. I'll update the title when he recommends something.

Thestatusquo wrote:As good as Life is beautiful was, this film got robbed of best picture, and Norton got robbed of best actor. He acted circles around Bennini.
So did Ian McKellen.
