I like the new years thing, but I couldn't make it >.< I can't get time off during the time (from november thanksgiving time till new years is blacked out for time off) I wouldn't mind arrive a few days after everyone though. But yeah.

Well you can only buy tickets so far in advance I think like 9 mos or so. The bigger picture is just knowing the dates so we know the time frame we have to save money for it.

Ussually priceline, orbitz, and all those are good for finding the airlines. But the acutual airlines themselves will have cheaper rates. And less taxes. And alky tickets internationally I believe are based on time of year and 4 mos out is cheaper than 1 (obv) unless there are deals. But since we would go around jan tickets leaving US might be cheap but into nz would be expensive cause that whole summer winter conversion.

Like a ferry or cruise boatride? Depending on how long it is I'm game. I'm in arizona so getting to like LA isn't hard. Maybe that is something we can a get a group together to do perhaps be cheaper and more fun that way?

Yeah alky, would be awesome to share a flight, have someone to talk to for 19 plus hours lol. Plus flying that far alone would be boring. So sure we can coordinate ^.^

Group ticketing really cheaper? And that seems like a hassel to get that much money all together. The really only plus size is that we wouldn't be alone, would all arrive at the same time and are more likely to sit together. Who would be willing to do all that? And would everyone be willing to fork over a grand plus to someone? And everyone would need thier money together and saved at the same time for it to work.

Alky, when I flew to italy my mom and I were seperate but I asked this lady to switch and she didn't mind. So assigned seating isn't that big of deal most poeple are nice and accomendating.

MoS if it's like loads cheaper I'm all for it but if it's the same or otherwise I'd rather book on my own, due to timing and coordinating and stuff. Still want to coordinate flights I just won't have the money when other ppl do. Cause I get lump sums from work for school...and fincial aid and that is what i'll be using.

I know nonny can't make it for New Years (not even if you give 18 months notice, non?) and I know that MoS is really keen for new years, so I'd appreciate if others could weigh in on the issue.

Unless I change jobs by then I doubt it. I'll double check the rules. But in retail over here you can't take any time off between thanksgiving and new years(going to check if it christmas)


EDIT: just asked co-worker, it's till the 1st that I can't take off. So I could fly out new year's eve(w00t new yer's in the middle of no where!) and get there on the second I think. I would obviously perfer option 2, but that is just my being selfish.

Well heck... Alky, you could come earlier if you wanted. There might be others in the same boat as you and needing to get back for school.

For anyone I have met before (or if you are a well-established mafiascum member), consider my hospitality available from 22 December to 22 January. I will still pick a 10 day period for the actual official meet, but there can be mini-meets either side if people want to.

I don't mind being late and spending more time on the end with you and the lump!! ^.^ My only thing is if you are doing that beach house idea I don't want to be the only one coming late if it's a far drive to the airport and all!

EDIT: realized I don't even know the distances I'm just used to things being spread out which is why I say it that way.

edit: just spoke with my boss. Most likely I could leave on the 28th/29th and he would just work my off days around it so I could make it. Not concrete yet...but most likely will be that way. So I'm still at 75% maybe a little more. ^.^
