DGB, I claimed several pages ago *WITH* rolename AND flavor. It's obvious that you haven't read a word of the game.

You'd be so kind if you were to provide a link to it - it would save me some work, this is a complex replacement.

I am Baptistin. At night I can explore in the dark and find out who is sleeping in their bedroom, and who isn't -OR- I can hide in a closet and avoid being nightkilled.

I have only read up to page 5... since you are pressing for answers, here they are.

I can't hide in the closet every night. In fact I can only hide in the closet a maximum of 3 times.

However, it looks like Zindaras was claustrophobic:
Night 1: Pooky, in bed
Night 2: Skruffs, in bed
Night 3: IH, in bed
Night 4: Talitha, in bed
Night 5: Gaspar, out of bed

As far as power roles go, that's pretty useless. I am not sure how that works anyway. Would a doctor or cop be "out of bed," for example? Or only the mafia member that performs the kill?

Zindaras might have been gambling that he might value self-preservation at night in endgame. Or maybe if he was always considered suspicious, it was better for him to for a chance to redeeming himself with information at night, than to fear being nightkilled.

I'll just say this, if you lynch me, it's no tragedy, as far as roles go.

The time between his claim at 1:16 and his results at 4:40 is plenty of time to look over the thread and make sure your results work with who was in the game when, etc.

That's very very unfair. My husband was waiting for me to help him shop for a birthday present for his sister, so I was out shopping. I still haven't read the game. When I returned home, I posted in another game first, then checked this thread, and felt cold metal on my ample temple. Feel free to vote for me for any other reason, but that one is just too unfair. I play mafia a lot, but I am not a shut in, I have a son and a husband, websites to mind and a house to take care of.

The "I'm busy and I have a life" excuse doesn't fly here imo. If you had time to post at all, to be online long enough to claim, then you had long enough to give your results. The only reason you wouldn't is if you were fabricating them.

My husband was standing behind me tapping his foot on the floor as I was claiming. I said, two more minutes, I want to finish this post. And to put things in context, I am a grown woman, and to make people wait while I play mafia is unbecoming and silly.

I still haven't read the game...

But I did find these quotes from the book with my name in it:

"But will no one remain in the house, my lord?" asked Baptistin.
"Yes, the porter."
"My lord will remember that the lodge is at a distance from the house."

"The house might be stripped without his hearing the least noise."
"By whom?"
"By thieves."

So Baptistin is just some butler, but he's obviously concerned about the possibility of thieves at night.

All was dark; one solitary, feeble light was burning in the porter's lodge, about forty paces distant from the house, as Baptistin had said. Monte Cristo leaned against a tree, and with that scrutinizing glance which was so rarely deceived, looked up and down the avenue, examined the passers-by, and carefully looked down the neighboring streets, to see that no one was concealed.

"All was dark; one solitary, feeble light was burning in the porter's lodge, about forty paces distant from the house, as Baptistin had said." Again, Baptistin is getting some information during the night. However, it is Monte Cristo that acts upon this information and inquires fully, not Baptistin himself. Baptistin stays away from the real action.

My role is extremely null indeed, but it makes perfect sense with the character. As you'd expect from a carefully planned Mr. Grey game. And I think, technically, it's more of a reporter/hider type of thing than rolecop/hider or whatever/hider.

I am Captain Leclère, and I can go on a long journey any night so long as I didn't go on one the night previous, and while I am on a long journey I cannot be targeted.

Including kills?

Captain Leclère on his DEATHBED charges Dantes to deliver a package. EARLY in the novel, too. The Captain's DEATH sets the novel in motion. And that's IT. No more Captain Leclère for the whole rest of the novel, for the captain is dead.

The Captain no longer walks, he does not go anywhere, not during the day, not during the night.

On his "deathbed" at the very beginning of the book. Not a character that goes on journeys in the middle of the night. Not a character that defies death or adversity.

So if you're really Captain Leclère, the role totally doesn't match the character.

Yeah you did miss something, Sarc. Silent Lee here has pretty much claimed "corpse." The journeying, un-nightkillable corpse! The dead character you can only kill on odd days. It would only be a tad more believable if he journeyed only during a full moon to eat other players' brains.

Must be some new zombie role, haha. Really looking forward to see who's gonna fall for that one. I have to get some popcorn.

I am Sindbad the Sailor, townie with one ability: A limited number of times per game I can head for the sea and be shielded from most night actions by other players.

Sinbad the Sailor was one of Dantes' aliases.

From Cliff Notes:
"Monsieur Morrel's daughter, who first meets the Count of Monte Cristo as "Sinbad the Sailor"; he sends her on an errand to obtain monies which will save her father's business."

Also from the book:
"If you ask him he says Sinbad the Sailor; but I doubt if it be his real name."
"Sinbad the Sailor?"
"Yes."
"And where does he reside?"
"On the sea."

Had to check whether the sailor was only an alias, or whether he actually took to the sea. It appears that Sinbad did go to sea.

Dantes used the Sinbad alias to perform a good deed.

Good job to all of my scumbuddies. I think we had a couple of breaks (LmL, I felt, was a terrible lynch that worked out really well). I'm sure I'll have more to say, but I can't think of anything at the moment. Good game, all.

I had no idea when I replaced that Gaspar was Primate/Glork. I didn't figure it out from the Quicktopic site, either.

I'm so disappointed my genius claim got me lynched, argh.

I counterclaimed DGB because her claim interfered with the claim that was most natural for me. I'm still not sure why she did that, especially since claiming Baptistin made me think she hadn't read the quicktopic.

I replaced with everybody wanting to lynch me and demanding a claim immediately, including Gaspar. I didn't have the time to read Quicktopic in depth - I couldn't make heads or tails of it, since Primate and Glork weren't in the game, but they were in Quicktopic. I eventually figured out that Glork and Gaspar were the same, but Primate was a total mystery to me.
