Meh, I'll say who I'm running, just not where they are.

AmeliaLi
Mastermind of Sin
Oman
creampuffeater
The Venerable Zorg
FlameAxe

It's not the best team I could run, but it's a good team, I think. I also imagine I'm going to be very liberal with replacing people.

I intend to be very heavy handed regarding telling you to do things, and to throw my confirmed innocent status around like a large brick. If I tell you flat out to do something, you should do it, and ultimately, you're proving yourself to me. If you're going to do something other than what I tell you to do, you better have a damn good reason. On the flip side, it's unlikely I will invoke this if I think you are a competent and pro-town player, so it is in your direct interest to act as worthy and pro-town as possible. There's at least one person in the starting 6 I think I'm taking a risk on, and I see two players on the bench, too, who I really don't have an especially high opinion of.

Left Forward = AmeliaLi
Center = Mos
Right Forward = TheVenerableZorg.
Left Defence = Oman
Right Defense = Flameaxe
Goalie. = Creampuffeater.

This is what I'm running. If anyone has any genuine objections based on game speculation that they feel is quite good, then by all means say it. I have my reasoning for each and every player on the ice, but I don't really see the point in saying it atm. Amelia has apparently left the site, which is a shame, as I was optimistic about here, but I don't see her replacement impacting on my plan majorly, though, it may possibly leave the frontline a little weaker than I'd like it. If it turns out genuinely exceptionally weak, then I'll just pull the shit I was talking about earlier, and say that though their opinions are theirs, their votes and nightactions are mine.

I don't think anyone really knows what the positions do or how to score goals. I'm assuming these things will become clear as the game goes on. I just assigned people to certain positions based on what would seem general good ideas. Like Mos is my centre because he's a strong player, and he's an acceptable backbone and I've put the newer players up front because I have a suspicion that this game will be designed in a way a good defensive line can stop a goal, but the offensive line doesn't really matter as much as it could, cause if we keep lynching scum, we're likely to score goals regardless.

Can I ask a bit about mechanics? One, what benefit/power does it hold being in the lineup. You also mentioned being liberal with replacing people, can this happen at any time or only in a night/day cycle?
#1: No idea.

#2: This is a nightless game.
TVZ wrote:I dont suppose the position we are given in our role pms has any impact on which positions we do better in?
I have no idea, beause I haven't got the same PM as the players, though it was my major theory about what the positions do that certain people are better in certain places.

But why not add yourself to the random list? I mean, surely if it was truly random, like the dice thing said, it wouldn't matter at all if you added yourself, seeing as it wouldn't mean anything other than you rolled a bad number, right?

Mastermind of Sin wrote:I would like to propose something. Not for this day, perhaps, but for future days. I propose that whoever Primate puts on the ice gets immunity from lynch. I propose it for these reasons:

a) This allows Primate more control over who gets lynched, since he doesn't have a vote. Sure, he can tell us what he thinks, but scum can still argue against him if they have to. This way, he makes some of the calls for sure.

b) This allows us to focus more on a smaller group of players and hopefully apply good pressure to force the scum out. This is not to say that we will ignore other players on the ice if they do something really scummy, but the discussion should be focused around scrutinizing the scummy players not on the ice. The players on the ice still need to actively contribute and analyze people, because they could find themselves taken off the ice the next day if they try to skate by without helping the town. This forces activity out of the players as well as putting focused pressure on scummy players to get them to shape up or ship out.

c) Most importantly, this means that we don't lynch anyone who is currently on the ice. Since I'm not sure how the mechanics work for that, I'm going to assume that it would be beneficial for us to end each day with a full number of players on the ice, in order to keep the other team from scoring. This plan allows us to not only make sure that we have all those players on the ice, but that also the people on the ice are the ones who look more innocent anyways, since Primate is putting them there for that reason.
No, just no.

#1: I think I covered that if I want to lynch someone and the rest of the town doesn't, I can act as king and just order the town to lynch that person. That gives me all the say I will ever need, really, and as far as self-enforced rules go, it's better than one that encourages us to ignore half the players.

#2: 'focus on players not on the ice' is another way of saying 'ignore the players on the ice' except your way actively encourages us to do less whilst my way encourages the town to do more things. And I think the 'post or you get taken off the ice' threat is there regardless of whether we're focusing on the non-icers, so that's irrelevant too. So the second part of the plan is something that's going to happen regardless, so it's a bit misleading you try and put it across as an advantage of your plan.

#3: Is BS too. If someone is sufficiently scummy we should lynch them regardless. I admit we need to consider the ice, seeing as how goals are paramount, but it's a bit stupid just saying that we're going to ignore all the people on the ice cause it could lose them the game.

Arbitrarily tying our shoelaces together is not the play.

This forces activity out of the players as well as putting focused pressure on scummy players to get them to shape up or ship out.

c)
Most importantly, this means that we don't lynch anyone who is currently on the ice.
?????
Sure, we want to lynch scum, but
I think it would be more beneficial for us to have a scum on the ice than to take them off the ice and play shorthanded
. Assuming this game is supposed to simulate an actual hockey game, the scum can't sabotage the game *too* obviously, because we'd see it. However, playing shorthanded is a strong recipe for the other team to score.
So I disagree that we should just "consider the ice".
I would propose that having players on the ice is the most important aspect of the game.
????

Your plan said that we should never lynch anyone on the ice under any condition.

Actually that's a fair point. I can just delay posting a list until we have everyone replaced. It's not like the mod can replace me for not doing it or anything, as it'd probably be easier for him to just just replace the lurkers.

So I'm just going to sit here and sulk for a while.

PS: The best you can do to keep this game going is find some replacements. We haven't even been told which people in the game you actually intend to replace and whether you're actually trying to do so. And look at the other team, there's barely any of them left, nearly half their team is completely absent.

I don't know why you're bothering with stuff like this when there's a much larger issue you are doing
nothing
to address, and
will
kill this game unless you do something about it very soon, if it hasn't already.

Oh, nm, you've replaced most of the other team, it's only us that are having to throw our lynches away on people that we have absolutely no read on because they have only posted once in the last four days regardless of whether we think they are scum.

Pretty much everything in your old pm you can get away with without quoting pls.

I don't know of anything in particular. My role wasn't any different from the ones Oman and CPE had. I didn't have any special abilities. I believe that the hawks were scored on the first time because all three of us were on the ice D1. Also, I told you not to put CPE on the ice! =P <3
Eh, least I knew enough to keep you off. :D I'm annoyed about being wrong about CPE though.

Mostly what I'm asking is do the scum have any kind of kill or way of re-arranging the list that I give in a day. But also any kind of roleblock or way of doing something with penalties? Did you have safe claims, and if you did, it is actually a safe claim or do you actually get a better result from being in that position over just being on the ice.

Well, CPE had a false claim. Are you saying you didn't have one?

Or are you literally saying you don't have any of the information I'm asking for, that you don't know whether you used to have a kill or not, because I find that bizarre.

CPE was a 'defensive left wing'. He was, however, not really a 'defensive left wing' he was a mafia. Ditto w/Oman and 'forward right wing'. These obviously weren't their real roles, as a scum defensive left wing isn't actually a defensive left wing because he isn't being defensive. He just has the name 'defensive left wing' in order to allow him to claim safely in a game where presumably most of the other players have some idea of what position they're meant to be in.

From the other thread:
TheSweatPantsNinja wrote:Seems fair to randomize a scum, but not all three.

I'm against randomizing their scum, mostly cause two wrongs don't make a right. I'm annoyed enough with this game, and I don't want the untouched half of this game to become annoyed it either. Lets just do it the honest way and bitch about it when we lose.

Lowell wrote:Sorry, I don't really understand. If it's true that we have a new scum that wasn't scum before, then I no longer see the point of claiming, since presumably the new scum would have a town role PM. Or am I missing something?
Because there's more town than scum now, and also we now know for sure that the scum have no way of screwing with us, so we can make an effort to put our best people on the ice in the right position. Also, behavioral things don't matter anymore, and probably the best way to catch scum we have available to us at the minute is just to throw people on the ice and see what happens.

MOD
, how bout this? You randomize ONE of the other team's scum by randomly choosing one of the three and taking him/her out of the game, bring in a new player, and randomize which of the remaining players (including the newbie) becomes scum. Sound okay?
Cause this game has been great with replacements. Finding a new player I'm sure will be very easy.

Sounds good to me. Everyone claim so I can get a full list up then we can go off on one of the lurkers.
I know it seems unfair but any kind of randomizing of scum on the other side where ther's more than 1 scum alive would be just too compolicated. I'm considering other ways to give your team a small advantage because of this. It might be sometihng that you won't actually see directly.
PS: Thanks to the fact we had a backup die, we know that whoever claimed Captain is confirmed innocent. But you've robbed that from us, so can we have our confirmed innocent back in some form or another pls.

So do I. It just makes the whole claim process harder considering that some people blatantly aren't checking the thread and so aren't around to claim.

Just as an update for where we are, I've submitted a lineup to the mod, asking that he waits till the deadline (so tomorrow) before implementing it in case someone else shows up. I've just put everyone where they're meant to be, choosing Shan over Mos because he claimed less ambiguously.

Also, I think we should no-lynch for a bit. I don't see the advantage to us lynching today. The chance we could hit scum isn't worth the risk.

Also, so people are aware of my lineup, Caps in goal, we have a mos/shanba shuffle, I don't think we have a third right forward, but I'm going to put panzer up there anyway cause hell why not. This sucks that we don't know who the scum is now, because with MoS off and the other 2 dead we were guaranteed to not have any scum on the ice and probably would have scored on Day 5. :/
Also because this setup is broken at a basic level and once we'd mass claimed the scum was obviously MoS just from the roles claimed, which is the real travesty of the scum being randomised.

Goalie: Capricous
Right Back: Mos
Left Back: Flameaxe
Centre: TVZ
Right Forward: Jdodge
Left Forward: Zeetlk

Is the list I'm submitting. Not for the reasons you put forward, though, I'm pretty much just swapping all the people I can into positions they are supposedly equally strong at, just to see what happens in comparison to yesterday.

Goalie: TVZ
Right Back: Shan
Left Back: Flameaxe
Centre: Jdodge
Right Forward: Capricious
Left Forward: Lowell

Was my yesterday lineup, fyi.

Yeah, I get that, but I think he needs to be in there today. I'll be able to make a more informed decision tomorrow.

PS: We're no lynching again, and honestly I don't get the purpose of lynching in a game where if we don't want the scum to affect the game we can just not put them on the ice.

The very fact you're speaking about this proves you haven't actually thought about it much. I encourage you to think about things happening in the other thread and apply them in this one, but absolutely never attempt to state those conclusions in-thread. There are things like, for example, the knowledge of who their scums are (I am 95% I know one, and pretty sure than I know the other) that we should absolutely never bring anywhere near the thread, despite the fact that this information is techinically useful for the Eagles to have out in the open. Analysing their claims is a similar thing, to my mind, and that's what you're doing there.

That said, I do beleive there are some people on this team who have abilities, but aren't stating it for some stupid reason. Hell, we *know* we have a Captain, but whoever that is hasn't bothered to raise his hand.

Lowell should post his case against, FA, that'd generate a bit o' jibba-jabba.

I don't need replacing. I was under the impression you were just using the yesterdays lineup again, which was what I wanted. Sorry.
