By doing absolutely nothing and hiding under the radar actively, I am doing more than nothing, I am finding out what people do when they are faced with such a situation, how long will it take before I am attacked for my behaviour? Who will do the attacking? Who will choose to leave me alone? Would they make such an action as a protown role?

There are many reasons I can see for a player I could see as being likely to attack such a lurker, one of which certainly could be that they investigated me and got an innocent and decided to keep their mouths shut, another could be that they are scum and would rather not try to push a lynch on a player that is difficult to lynch, preferring to stick to easier targets.

The scum have the same information, except they know who they are and by elimination can target probable info roles, this in turn gives us information. Did they skip over someone prominent? Who would attack Pooky if he didn't have information, but didn't attack Pooky and yet still is alive?

Am I reading the thread and keeping up to date with everything? Yes. But I do need to run to class now.

Well MBL, all u've really done is jump up and down and moan loudly about how pissed you'd be if I was town and contributed as I have, about how I've provided no defense, about how I must be scum.

I've played as scum against lurkers before, it's easy to try to turn a town on the lurker because you need no actual evidence against them, they don't need to do anything scummy, their existence is scummy because there is no information to point either way.

In Werewolves Mafia 38 I got the town to lynch 2 lurkers back to back on the last couple of days based on no guilt whatsoever, I just got them so pissed at the lurkers that they ended up lynching those lurkers tho there was no evidence they were scum at all.

MBL's objective here is not to get rid of the lurking in this game, if that was his goal he'd have actual QUESTIONS for the lurkers to answer, he'd be ASKING them things. Instead all he's said is these people are suspicious for lurking, Pooky should be lynched cuz he's a lurker.

Does lynching all lurkers get rid of lurkers? Yes, it also throws away any chance you have for winning the bloody game since you're operating through with no information. MBL's goal seems to be to throw away lynches based on lurking.

When you examine a player's play, there is one thing that you must understand, the player's

intention

. Why is he playing this way? What is he hoping to accomplish.

MBL's intention is to lynch me, it is not to make me talk, I've given him plenty of time and not once has he actually asked me directly anything that he wants to know from me(i.e. who do i think is suspicious, who do i think is scum, who do i think is innocent, what do you think of player XXX)(this is of course barring that one sarcastic remark he made in response to my House reference which was made after quite some time spent actually trying to get me lynched and I can't really see as a geniune question, it read more like an asasine sarcastic remark)

The intention to lynch a lurker rather than make a lurker talk is more scum in my experience here than protown.

Now what are MY intentions this game? Well first look at what I've done and look at my reputation which surely precedes me. Do you believe I intended to lurk my way through this game as scum and not be called on it?(Such an intention would of course correspond with an expectation of getting away with said act, do you believe I EXPECT to get away with such an act)

I propose to you that I could not possibly expect to get away with such blatant lurking and especially not to somehow sprinkle fairy dust into your eyes and make you forget my existence while two stepping my way to a victory to the tune of a jig.

My intention is twofold, find out who attacks me for lurking(and on the flipside who doesn't attack me for lurking who I would expect to attack me for lurking)

and also to give ample oppurtunity for those who propose my lynch based on lurkage to actually

me. This is a separation effect because it separates those who hunt lurkers because they are easy to lynch from those who pressure lurkers to get them to stop lurking.

The player who actually has questions for the lurker to answer and give him no excuse to avoid contributing by making it clear what is expected is typically protown.

The player who appeals to outrage and anger as excuses to lynch a player with no real sense of their guilt, is typically scum.

See MBL, what I don't understand is your posts about the scum that we are dealing with at this point, you express a sense of despair that we are doomed to lose and the scum have some sort of great edge cuz BJ acted like BJ.

If you think there are 5 scum left, do you think they are all on the same team? If they were, you'd be saying we started with a team of 6 scum and an SK, which I don't really see as being likely as I haven't seen a game with a team of scum greater than 5. Also if they are separated into separate teams, crossfire certainly has been minimal so far which leads me to suspect this wouldn't be the case, plus we wouldn't exactly be without a chance if there were separate groups.

Given the abundance of the nightkills I'd hazard to guess that we either have an overactive vigilante or a vigilante that is controlled by the scum.

How would we deal with this? Have the office swapping roles swap as much as possible and people who haven't been swapped before.

If you do get swapped into a vigilante role I'd suggest you claim that as soon as possible because the person you've swapped with it probably a scumbag.

My lynch recommendation currently is Yosarian for several reasons,

1) he's been alone at end of day votecounts twice I believe on Days 2/3, notably missing out on both bluemonick and BJ. This is suspicious because having your vote alone on someone doesn't actually do anything, he either has the position that he is against lynching the candidate or for it, if he is for it then he would be voting for that lynchee, if he is against it, then he should be trying to get a different lynch. Voting for a person alone does niether of those things and is inconsistent with how a protown player would use his or her vote at such a time, it's like disguising a nonvote as a vote by making sure it could never matter or be picked up on since it is not a threat.

2) This quote:

I don't know if you're scum or not, but if you continue to act like this, your lynch is probably inevitable.

He made that comment directed at BlueM as BlueM was imploding and getting swept up in a lynching tide.

It sounds rather like something a scumbuddy would say to another scumbuddy to try to get them to wake up and defend themselves. This is notable because he doesn't make such comments towards the other lurkers but he does push for their lynches and express suspicion of them. Also he did not end up on BlueM's lynch.

Night 1 there was only 1 kills, Night 2 there were 3, same was true for Night 3.

When there is a sudden jump in nightkills, it usually means the vigilante office came active, the only changes on Night 1 were Jack Quinn's office and the nighttalk office, if one of them had to do with nightkills and after being given to a new owner suddenly went guns blazing on us, I'd like to know.

Why is a nightkill worse for the town and thus the vig if protown should not kill?

This is because we LOSE relevant information when an office is closed due to its occupant's death.

We KNOW that somebody has an office that can reopen closed offices, this means if someone claims doctor or cop and is killed and shown to be protown, we know which office is going to be reopened and restaffed(given that the office reopener office is occupied by protown player, heck even if it was antittown player he wouldn't be willing to take ths risk of not reoppening and then getting swapped and outted later)

I think it is highly probable that we are dealing with an antitown player holding the vigilante office just from the high number of kills that have not hit scum combined with the fact that nightkills hurt the town in terms of information.

Then the question becomes, why didn't he kill on night 1? I think that a 2 kill jump is something that can't be attributed solely to random factors such as crosskills nk immunities, docprotects, or roleblocks. I think what it means is that the scumbag with the nightkill office was awol during that time and didn't send in a nightchoice, that's where I'd go looking for scum.

Also in that game you're referencing, Dirge was scum, you ended up losing with the town because you needed to lynch scum at that point, not a non scum aligned "lyncher", and it wasn't in your best interest to lynch the SK when there were 2 sizable scumgroups still operating. So if you did see the fact that I was the SK, you still played it poorly by allowing the scum to lynch me which ultimately led to the town's loss.

Are you saying that you think Thok who replaced Ibby who went after Fuldu(scum) very hard is actually scum who tried to throw her partner under the bus at a time that made no taouctical sense?(because I don't see Ibby as the type who'd throw under the bus, and the timing isn't right either)

(i've been wondering why thok hasn't bit the dust after fuldu came up scum, I think scum forgetting he was as confirmed as it gets from d4 interaction would make more sense than him actually being scum which I think is very long shot)

Because at this point in the game, it's quite likely that catching scum is more important than keeping a cleared player safe.( I would expect 3 scum remaining, at the very least 2)
