The morning after Andy gets Buzz and Woody sleeps in the toy box for the first time, Woody opens the lid, gasps for air(I think or makes some sort of noise, Woody notices he doesn't have his hat, looks back into the box and says, "Who has my hat?" and the shark pops up wearing Woody's hat and says: "Look, I'm Woody. Howdie howdie howdie." And Woody responds: "Eh heh, eh heh. Gimme that!"

Yes I know waaaaaayyyyy too much about all three. My three year old thinks he's Woody and has watched the movies probably 10 to 15 times each at least and I've probably seen them 5-10 times each.

@mike/Nanook: How long has it been since you've played Mafia?

1] I forget exactly as it was eight years ago and I was only 15 but I ended up on the GL(Grey Labyrinth i think there is a wiki entry about it) solely to play mafia and found out about scum and since it was dedicated to Mafia and I didn't care about the puzzles the GL was all about I came here instead.
2] Its been so long since I've played I have no idea.
3] Similar to 2 but IIRC I was known primarily for lurking but it wasn't so much lurking as I just find myself to be a better player as an observer than an up-front tunneler/attacker because most people will ask the questions I develop before I can voice them.
4] Central
5] Depends. I primarily read and post from my Droid 2 and will generally read all day as I get email notifications about posts but as I said in 3, I find myself to be a better observer but I will post when there is something I want to ask or share that hasn't been already.

As for the directed question: I'm not sure. I came and went for awhile back in 06(i think?) and I think that was the last time I played. Although I am playing a mini atm.

I agree with bob on his point that she seems like she is trying too hard to be seen as town. I tend to find very aggressive play to be scummy as well and she is extremely aggressive. It could be her off site experience has soured her to perceived buddying but her rather extreme(in my opinion anyway) distancing of herself from Nanook and Flavor doesn't seem genuine and an over the top attempt to seem protown. Agreeing with a point and sharing a protown read isn't buddying to me.

There are a lot of people in this game. Many will have similar thoughts, ideas, and theories. Just because I have a similar thought process and reads does not mean its mirroring.

It wasn't something that required distancing in my eyes. Nanook agreed with a single point you made and you jumped to distance yourself. That's weird to me. Flavor shared current reads and again you jumped. That's really

weird to me. Sharing that you read someone as town is not buddying, nor is it something that needs to be distanced from.

its a hard thing to describe without relooking through the thread and I'm about to get off work and can't exactly peruse the thread and drive at the same time so tonight when I sit down at my pc ill give you a better answer but for now ill try to describe what my brain puts in front of me as I think about it.

She seems like she's worried about being seen as scum and just reiterates over and over again that the scum won't like the fact that she is aggressive and noisy. She strikes me as scum who is doing everything in her power to appear protown instead of just being protown.

Like I said ill have to go through the thread again. Maybe its the aggresiveness that I just cannot see as town behavior.

She reminds me a lot of IS actually so maybe its a projection thing.

It doesn't make her scum- it's just the newbie way of thinking. It's easy for me to fall into that trap too, if I know I am town and then all of a sudden tons of people vote me it is very easy in the newbie mindset to think all of them are scum, the whole "it's not me, so it must be you" thing. It's null, and when they get a chance to breathe they will realize that friends aren't town and enemies aren't scum. It's a null tell, and so is all the reasoning against her.

See how it says ... R.I.P. he trusted mathcam beneath my avatar. The above explains exactly that. I too played similarily when I first started playing mafia. Mathcam took me under his wing so to speak in the game and I fully trusted him so much that in the end, it was I who was killed and scum won a victory. If Kendall isn't scum, I'm sure scum see him more as a puppet who they can get to do whatever they need.

The game is much different in person because you can read faces and feel out vibes. Playing mafia on a website is almost like a little girl talking to some pervert on the internet. The whole time the little girl just thinks she's chatting with one of her friends. Sick comparison I know, but it's the best relation that I could conceive.

For the above reason, I'm inclined to continue watching Kendall.

This for the record was absolutely beautiful play by mathcam. I remember reading that thread and being in awe of what cam was able to acomplish.

I don't like your reasoning at all. I feel if she was scum she wouldn't put attention to herself by saying "Oh stop buddying me" "Don't give out your town reads", if she were scum she would ignore the 'buddying', and being called town is a good thing for mafiat's, so why fret about a town read on you if you are scum? I feel anyone would think buddying = Scummy because I as a newb thought buddying was scummy, until an experienced player told me it was actually a null tell. I blame the wiki. So I feel it's valid to see a newbie considering buddying = scummy. Plus her play has been pro-town. You are my third suspect because I think you should know better, seeing from the way you post. How much experience do you have with mafia again?

Why fret about a town read on you when your town? Fretting about a town read is extremely weird to me no matter what your alignment is. kendall is not a noob to your whole buddying argument is invalid. I haven't found her play to be particularly protown. I don't find her play to be antitown either though which is why I never voted her but FoSed her. I found and still find her play strange which is why i find her suspicious. Weird/strange play is suspicious to me.

I unvoted to remove my RVS vote and didn't/don't feel that kendall is a good lynch. I FoSed her because I found her play suspicious and wanted some discourse on the subject. I never intended to start a BW on her, but to air out my suspicions. Her reactions still don't sit well with me and I will keep an eye on her but I don't feel she is a good lynch for Day 1. I find her scummy, not scum. There is a key distinction and that's why I am not voting her.

ISOed up to flavour so here is part 1 of my reads:

Beefster- leaning town - no scuminess noted in the ISO and seems to have some similar thought processes to mine. Gut is a town too so that's where he leans.

Bob- unsure but leaning scummy - didn't get much out of his ISO and have trouble pulling leads on him but my gut says scummy.

Chk - is he replacing out? If not I got nothing on him cause there is just not enough there.

Diddin - town - iso 2 showed a good point about flavour not voting top suspect and voting second suspect. Also, liked the metaphore of gambling odds(not sure if its in iso 2 or later). Iso 5/6 I liked his points about wifom with umbrage. Iso 14 I disagree with minigame plan. Will just devolve into bickering.

Don - scum - too quiet. Minimal reaction to bw which rubs me wrong. Saying "just lynch me" even while town is anti town.

Flavor - null/scummy - questions and little else up to iso 13. Iso 20 is first real analysis. Generally bothered by the massive amount of more more more posts. Iso 21 makes a good point about the chk questions and was simlar to my reasoning. From iso 24 to 30 more questions and more more more posts. Iso 34 uses wifom while responding to one of my posts and also says I "should know better" because of five year old mafia experience. Also, I've never been a prolific or particularly talented player. Up to iso 40 more bitching about posting moar and null else. July head's iso 46 I liked. Started skimming after that cause I'm doing this from a phone and my eyes were glazing over. Flavour I have trouble getting a read on but my gut started out as townish and dwindled to scummy as I read so Id like to finish their iso before I commit to more than the null/scummy read I have.

Disagree, I think it goes against the spirit of the game scott has set up but that's my opinion. Also, I think this will devolve to bickering and id rather it be a chance situation because id rather not nominate a mafia member for extra powers. Granted we don't know who mafia is but id still rather it not be voted on.

Its mostly a gut read but if I had to point out specifics id say the backseat moderating and bitching about people posting. Also, lots of posting with minimal content except for questions and answering direct questions with a small bit of analysis. Again I reiterate I haven't gone through your whole iso completely and did notice your posts seeming to hold more content(or at least being longer) but as I said I kinda glazed over and stopped reading on this tiny screen.

I focused on the strange because it was the only real read I had at the time. I didn't vote because I didn't feel she was a good vote/lynch. If I vote out of RVS its because I'm ok with lynching that person that day at that particular moment. I will use a lot of FOS and IGMEOY in my play because of that. I will vote for pressure occasionaly as well, but it will be pretty rare. I honestly don't recall exactly but I believe this is how I've always played and I think its because in my earlier days we played a little tighter with our votes. I'm pretty sure of this assumption as I've thought multiple times this game and another I'm in that votes seem to be a bit more fast and loose.

Super busy this weekend. Sorry all. Loving and agreeing with jmurphs rant. Trying to get completely caught up. Hiraki, if your done being a spoiled brat would you please explain how I'm scum? Thatquestion is also to flavour(minus the spoiled brat part) cause that would be a helpful place for me to get some content in while I catch up. His soft cc of umbrage doesn't make sense to me if he were scum. Not sure if scum had time to strategize before game start(I seem to recall that happening in the past but not sure as I also recall it not happening. Mod choice maybe?) But I could see them strategizing that interaction and I could potentitally see a scum watcher trying it as a gambit but that's a stretch cause causing your gf to be lynched day one is really bad play.

That's a big but and I'm not convinced the monkey would be guaranteed scum either so I'm not ready to place my vote there yet.

FAs claim of woody is suspect to me. why would woody be a one-shot vig? Even going with the whole sherrifs have guns thing, woody would carry a six shot revolver. What kind of pistol is a single shot?

The speed and veritable flood of text in this game really makes it hard for me to keep up and as such I am seriously contemplating replacing out. I really love the source material and the experience of a big theme like this after so many years away so I will soldier on the best I can until I feel I'm becoming a liability to the town.

leaning scummy. She seemed like she was hedging her bets a little too much for my liking on day 1 pretty much doing all but protesting the Umbrage lynch. Seemed to me in hindsight that she pushed the VI read a little too hard to divert suspicion from umbrage and onto donjosh.

Rainbow's claim seems legit to me but as others have said I expect at least 1 scum in there. Not sure who it is yet but expect at least 1 and maybe two if we do have a dual scum group.

Flavor's claimm just obliterated my semi-scummy read on her. I never really believed woody would be a one shot vig and that's it. The joat claim makes a lot of sense and fits the character much better.

First of all there is a big difference between the forums. At most I post a couple of dice tags or three or four lines of text and that's it. That's a lot easier to do than reading and posting big walls in this game. So ill post where, how, and when I want. I'm not a prolific poster in mafia games and never have been so deal with it.


Spy: just too pushy and trying to be a leader has always rubbed me the wrong way. Anytime I see a player trying to dictate town policy or decisions I instinctively distrust them. This distrust is magnified when I see them get traction and people start following them.

Rainbow: this is to a much lesser extant since her claim but for much the same reasons as spy.
