@ Jack, I got to pick from among 3 secret roles reserved for the number one pick. Unlynchable bulletproof serial killer sounded just like my cup of tea.
1) Did you fully understand how the draft system operated?
2) Why did you choose the numbers you chose?
3) Do you think it is likelier that scum chose unique X numbers, or doubled up on at least one of their choices?
1. Yes
2. Human tendency to avoid the obvious
3. Unique. Probably 5 midrange numbers followed by a 1.
(Doubling up numbers looks like a one way trip to the bottom of the draft)
Sajin, you reference the fact you 'are not scum' about ten times in your previous post. It looks like you're trying to hard to get the fact you are a town member out there. Why did you feel the need to do that?Where Confidence and Charisma Collide-

Happy thanksgiving all! Great day with the family.
Fate, im not sure what you're trying to pull, and you can drop the aggressive act. Do you think you appear town by trying to be aggressive and getting your name out there a lot? Its annoying.

Not much time quick post.
Why did I change numbers to 1,1? Because I believed that no one else would pick them, thus I could choose the role I wanted. Why Did I comment on it, because I had outsmarted a whole other 23 people who had believed they were on a 'higher level' by picking numbers that were NOT 1.
This is frustrating, because instead of being voted for scumminess, I am being voted for what NUMBERS I have picked, plus random fate accusations.Where Confidence and Charisma Collide-

In response to people who doubt why would scum would pick similar numbers, to avoid exactly what is going on now. They are, essentially, given a free pass for several days.
I ask again, if picking higher benefits the town, why did no one else pick 1,1? You either get a powerful role for the town, and knock off any scum that would also choose 1,1. (or any other subsequent high number)
Some sense finally:
Ben, the point of this game is to choose role you would LIKE, thats the point of a draft with multiple roles. What role did you pick?No Ben, either you're being exceptionally niave about things here, or you're trying to lead the weak doc into killing themselves, AND finding out the role of Gude, both of which only benefit scum.
Pom:
Good reasoning here. Just make sure you lynch down the numbers one at a time. Hopefully you hit some scum along the way, otherwise town will lose. But maybe you're not concerned about that? You're being voted for your numbers- correct. But they point to you being scum, with all the technicalities of the game. Why shouldn't you be voted for your numbers?
And yes I changed my numbers. Maybe you should have too?
Also, what made the transition from slowsilver to me so easy? Looks like a not so subtle attempt to give steam to the wagon.
Bwuh?Gandalf and SS are both scumm though
Change vote off someone you still think is scum, for some incredibly weak reasoning?Where Confidence and Charisma Collide-

ok, I checked the other pick your power games
#3 3/5 unique numbers scum
#2 1/2 unique numbers scum
#1 2/4 unique numbers scum (keep in mind there were two mafia groups here)
So I take back my previous point, it is HIGHLY likely that in the four unique numbers we have in this game, two are scum. (The actual percentage is over 50%) But, I can make this a lot easier. I know I am town, so 2/3 of these people are more than likely to be scum:
1. volkan
2. chkflip
3. gandalf
It might even be more benficial to force all four of us to claim, and examine the picks. Some roles will definitely make more sence from a scum side v. a town side. In this way, we could potentially wipe out 40% of the scum team over day 1 and 2. (or potentially day 1/ night)
With these numbers in mind, I reread the other three people.
I have ordered them in order of scumminess:
Gandalf
chk
volk
Why?
Gandalf:
nervous?Oh, and Hoopla had such sound reasoning behind most of her post up until then. Why exactly are we voting for me?
sheeping.Oh wow. Pretty much what Pom said.
VOTE: slowsilver
there was a case against you and me? I think it was based more off number selection. Look defensive.I had a big post responding to the case against me and agreeing with the case against Guderian
You then proceed to answer WHY you dont have the case instead of posting the case!
chk:
looks like diversion tacticsRetry:
- 3] I think it's likelier for scum to double up on a choice that they think is more sound than others.
were they really?- (9,5) were the first numbers that popped into my head. Completely random
volk:
With the other two above him, he falls to the bottom. His posts look sound so far, I cant see anything that would push him too heavily one way or the other.

I was calling for the bandwagon on myself because it seemed thats where everyones mind lay. All those people voting me, well to me, it is quite funny.Yeah... so many things wrong here. You're not voting... anyone... yet you call for a bandwagon. On a stupid BM vote. For no reason.
You seem quite dead set on my scumminess, which is also quite funny, and misguided. If you turned all your brain power somewhere else, actual scum will be found a lot sooner.
And whats with all the quotes of people voting. You are implying something there, but not really saying it. Make it direct, so people can see what the heck youre saying.
WIFOM time:
If I was scum, and I had four other scum in quick chat to bounce this idea off of, do you really think I would announce to the world "Hey, I changed numbers because my buddies told me to do so, hahahahah?" Really?

@Guderian: Why did you choose 1,1. Was it because you wanted first pick? And if so, why?
The point of the draft was to pick numbers to get high to pick a role you wanted, to actually get a role instead of being a vanilla as I have been and usually are in most games.
So I wanted first pick so I could pick a role I wanted. I did, and I did.

also of note, considering we are on this numerological path:
pyp2: (1,1), (3,7), (6,4), (7,2), (12,1)
pyp3: (2,12), (4,8), (5,4), (12,3), (13,7)
note the number of times the scum pick and x number not followed by a 1. it happens 8/10 times for the last two games. 80%. It would seem that not picking a one in the y value is an attempt to take suspicion away from the scum.

Fate, its not to hard to look at the y numbers.
I have written papers about game theory. Use I understand it. You can shut up now.
@Guderian: What was the point of saying "that's quite a list"?
It is quite a list, composed entirely out of the blue with nothing to back it up.
I think a wagon on xvart is a terribly dumb idea, when there are people we should consider lynching way above him.

I would think of the two gunsmith pickers, one has to be scum drafting it to protect themselves and buddies from the gunsmiths investigations, and acting under the assumption that cop was already gone.
It will be interesting which of volk/chk picked gunsmith.

Are you saying you couldn't come up with that on your own if you weren't in PYP1-3 jack?
Jack +10
volkan +4!
xvart:
I'm not suggesting it, i'm saying its a possible course of action. And it would appear only 3 (out of 4) people have 'powerful roles', and one is a gunsmith.
Also to that 'wagoning', I was responding to DrippingGoofball, as you can see about my comment about the fruit vendor. Maybe its not at first obvious, but its what I was saying. The two quotes were jutxaposed to show Fate the error of his ways.
Now, knowing this, Do you think I am blatantly lying about what I was saying, or are you deliberately trying to paint me in a way that you hope others will find scummy to force a mislynch?Where Confidence and Charisma Collide-

Yes, I changed my mind since looking at the data. You must have a low estimation of many people on this board to not figure that out fate.
If anything, what you pointed out helps me fate. I changed my mind after looking at the data of previous games, not just going off what I thought would be optimal. Is changing your mind scummy?

1. yes. you didn't?
2. I wasn't isoing the scums y numbers at the point, no.
3. it was more like 2-3 days. It was only when jack compiled all the data in his little spoiler that I could look at it an notice the scum numbers. It isn't obvious at first, which is why i didn't notice it.
also, fate did you miss the part where benmage specifically asked me to claim. Do you consider that scummy?
I dont see a scum motivated drive right now behind hoopla trying to confirm whether there actually is a gunsmith in the top 3. Theres already a 33% base chance of anyone of us being it, actually 50% now.
Wouldn't it be just as easy for gandalf to claim a random role that he wasn't actually vt too. Lets say hes actually VT to cop? He, as scum would already know that there was a cop in the top three, so he wouldn't worry about that. He would say vt to gunsmith to try and out the gunsmith, knowing full well they have a 33% chance of hitting cop in the night. So it can be played both ways.Where Confidence and Charisma Collide-

Is it possible for you to call me by my actually name Llama? Its not that hard.
fate, at times you seem really protown, but at times (aka when launched into a caps rage) its hard to say. I'd say more townish though.
inhim,
If you look at the odds, thats what the percentages tell us. over 50% of the unique numbers are scum. And ben has said some really strange things and then evaporated. This screams scum to me. Thats why I said those two statements.First:
2/3 chance of gandalf, vollkan, chkflip being scum
Then:
gandalf or ben need to die today
I am also liking the number of phantom threats I am getting. It seems no matter what happens today people are going to try and say I am scum. I have no doubt that I am trying to be slated for the mislynch tomorrow If i make it there.
Ok more numbers. Some new thoughts on the numbers. I would like your thoughts on my thoughts.
Spoiler: Draft Numbers
First off, there is no x = 4,7,14,15
I know I am not scum (YES YOU ARE BLAH BLAH BLAH ok whatever), so I know scum do not exist in the 1 neighborhood.
so 1,4,7,14,15 are out. Now this list is unique, we have 10/22 46% numbers with x followed by a 1. In previous games, scum have only followed their x followed by a 1 20% of the time.
so If we assume a random spread, with no doubling up, (which almost everyone agrees is undeniably dumb (my all picking six kidding aside)) scum have the following numbers to pick from
2,3,5,6,8,9,10,11,12,13
Now bear with me. Something about gandalfs 'three adhd's or whatever' seemed to ring through. *cue calls of buddying.* Something about his posts seemed sincere. So for now I am going to eliminate 12 from this list.
Now, in previous games, scum have ALWAYS gone for 1,2. I see no reason this game would be different. Ergo, volkan is one of the scum. It also bodes well for this case that his y numbers is not a one.
so now we have 3,5,6,8,9,10,11,13
In my mind, benmage has been acting scummy. The numbers fit So, ben is in as well. thats two scum. Now, scum want to space out a bit, to ensure optimal placement.
So we go to the top end. Who has been acting scummy up there? If I would guess, the scum would pick higher numbers on this spectrum, as they know most townies would try and pick low but not too low. In the top we have a few gems, chk at 9 solo, with no y=1, and one of these six:
Hoopla 10,1
Le Cupcake 10,6
Jack 11,1
xvart 11,7
Fate 13,1
PranaDevil 13,10
Not too sure about this one. Will need more time, but my best guess would be from the 10 'neighborhood'.
so we have two low numbers (2,3 volkan and ben) two high (chk and someone in 10) and probably one in the middle, at five or six. rabies and iam spring to mind. this list has even spacing, no repeats, and 80% of y values not being one.
with this, here is my scum team
volkan
benmage
chk
hoopla/le cupcake
rabies/iam
I will happily join a bandwagon on any of these people. I will not join a bandwagon, or support in the slightest, one on anyone else. And the fact chk has done nothing but come in and randomly vote me is pretty scumtastic from my point of view.

Basically, voll, if you really are town (which atm I dont believe), then you should definitely consider someone in the 3's scum, because if not, then the lowest number scum picked would be 5. Does that make sense to you?
I'm not sure why you're voting xvart either, when there are several (if not all) other wagons that are better.

Since Ben posted his big post earlier, he has lurked. Actually, he has posted a few things with one line answers. In response to anything made against him, he has been quiet. Ok, sorry for the inactivity.
I'll catchup tonight.
Prod or replace? This seems a little much.
With the deadline approaching (tuesday) I think we need to seriously begin talking about a benmage (or hoopla or etc...) lynch here. With time running out it will give people an opportunity to slip under the radar and put a few votes on people under the pretense that "deadline was approaching hehehe!"
It would be better to have thoughts formulated and solidified by today or at the latest tomorrow.Where Confidence and Charisma Collide-

I feel like that was the deadline lynch a day early. Looks like people just jumped onto an easy wagon, and I dont like the way the votes leading up to the hammer went.

Darn Gandalf, that triple a.d.d. business had me convinced
I cant believe chk picked supersaint with the number 3 pick. Not sure what he was trying to do there. Not sure why he was night killed because he was looking pretty sketchy at end of day. Not being groundbreaking here, but I figured he was vigged, and scum got hosed on their night kill.
Short points.
1. Didn't like the end od day play by slowsilver.
2. Didn't like volkans play. The fact that he parked his vote on xvart all day is really strange in my mind, especially when considering xvart didn't really throw off big scum vibes, and he had the opportunity to contribute or lend weight to any existing wagon. He had well written long winded posts that didn't accomplish much.
3. hoopla has been giving conflicting reads, some like this seem to be trying to pigeon hole the town
while others seek to try and confirm townSo, that's one scum down from the top four. Who's the other? Vollkan or Guderian?
though I do agree this should be examined:His self-implosion the last few pages has been bizarre, and ordinarilly I would find it scummy, but this behaviour can be exhibited by inexperienced/immature town and scum, no matter how much like scum it looks like. If anything, it more illustrates how detached and unfamiliar he is with MS culture, which makes his posts in the queue thread seem even more town.
4. I would theorize that at this point, after ben emerged as the clear counter wagon to gandalf at days end, the fact scum have day talk, and the fact gandalf flipped town that ben is town. Much as I hate to admit that.Investigating the momentum (especially the collapse and swing to Ben's wagon) of Gandalf's wagon should be our key focus today.
well that leaves me with slowsilver and volkan as the top two for me. I guess I will reread up on the end of the day, but for now
Vote: Volkan
Will re-read the end of the days play. Also the time around when gandalf claimed and then goofed, around halfway through.Where Confidence and Charisma Collide-

also, not sure what inhim was doing here:
No, I dont think this would be correct at all.Benmage wrote:Anywhose TL/DR...I'm a VT..if someone worthwild not voting me wants to know what I went for, I'll claim it.
Um, duh? Or is this not correct PYP theory?
Also, his iso 15-end is pretty sketchy. It doesn't read as pro-town as all.

I too entertained the thought of a massive scum gambit, but it seems a little risky to put into motion day 1 which could net 2-3 scum and not much profit. The only reason I would entertain this idea is that I do find vollkan lack of sending in a night action and minor actions d1 slightly scummy. I guess for now it wait and see on the town side of the fence.
I did ask vollkan the same question as hoopla pointed out today and he had a rather strange reply:
To repeat: on radar still.
This may be a "me not liking big picture play" thing, but I don't see why I should assume one of them to be scum. There are good reasons for town to pick 3, and there are obvious reasons (both strategic and WIFOM) why aiming for middling numbers might be a feasible scum play. I really don't think it helps to apply, based on a precedent of three games with different people, rules as to where scum most likely are that ride roughshod over individual behaviour.Guderian wrote:Basically, voll, if you really are town (which atm I dont believe), then you should definitely consider someone in the 3's scum, because if not, then the lowest number scum picked would be 5. Does that make sense to you?
Inhim wagon looks to be abandoned because he is weak doc. Not trying to start it again, but isn't it possible scum could pick weak doc? Nothing says it has to be town, although it doesn't look like the smartest scum pick. Worth considering.
For now, however, I would like to resume on slowsilver. I already outilned a few posts back why slowsilver looks scummy.
But to repeat,
1. strange votings. (end of day 1)
slowsilver wrote:These three people are xVart (the predominant one?), Jack (active (or not so active) lurker?) and Pomegranate who just sheeps (not an awful thing in itself, but sheeping wagons is unnecessary)...
So I conclude that these three are scum together.I have become less convinced that xvart is scum - but I still don't know where that puts me.So Hoopla looks fairly scummyBenmage..... ScuminHimshallibe..... Scum
2. The 3 slot. with the benmage counterwagon at end of day gaining steam, it is highly possible he is town. The fact that he is VT also helps ben town case, because it is highly unlikely the top two scum picks would of hit roles already picked by others. So that leaves slowsilver as the low number person I guess you could say of the scum team.SpyreX wrote:Players not voting: slowsilver
3. real wishy washy posting. look at his iso. 1-10 is meaningless.
At this point, if slowsilver flips scum, I am almost positive these people would be town. Based on the way he has gone after them for very little reasons. I encourage a slowsilver wagon now.
a. inhim
b. xvart
c. benmage
d. hoopla (already but extra)

fate, just because you type in all caps doesn't make your points any more valid.
Fear mongering? Hardly, I present logical situation that most people may or may not of thought of in an interest to provide discussion. Inhim is all the way at the bottom of the draft, weak doc could be a possible pic. Note that I said to keep it in mind, not that I think he is scum.
Scum picked all six? Have you heard of sarcasm?
If you can provide me with a few concrete reasons why claiming would be beneficial to town, I will consider it. I dont really see any way my claim could help thing if not to let the scum know exactly what I am.
Also, completely ignoring the case. Random raging this entire game. Not really any cases. I've read a few of your other games. You're usually on point. Not sure what you're doing here. Change of opinions on you. Its high time I :
FOS: FATE
also, hoopla, If i am not scum as you say, why would I constantly be suspected? If you believe I am town, wouldn't it be your duty to try and argue away from my lynch. I know I would do the same to the little town list I provided. To do anything less would be to allow yourself to become a bystander.Where Confidence and Charisma Collide-

I'm not asking anyone to defend me. What Im saying is if person A thinks other person B is town then person A should take it upon themselves to try and stop a mislynch or what they view as unjust. I can't believe you would disagree with this.
(in this case it pertains to me)
For example, I now think benmage is town. I will argue against lynching benmage.Where Confidence and Charisma Collide-

The only reason I would assume vollkan can't be scum is that he picked Gunsmith, which gandalf also picked. So if they were scum together, they just shot themselves in the foot for no reason to give their second scum pick and fourth overall as vanilla.
I mean its possible, but unlikely. The only thing that still tugs me in that way is his lack of action n1. volk, n2 action?
did anyone reread and notice anyone gandalf and slow were both calling scum? could clear some town.Where Confidence and Charisma Collide-
