i think its probably easier for someone to say that i told them this and they never responded, and have the other person who never actually received anything look scummy.

so,
Vote Niv
Scum:

ckillor (see above post)
Zoneace (typical scum day 1 meltdown under slight pressure)
Simenon (scum mason)

Choices, choices, so many choices.

vote: Simenon

"i think that Niv called out simenon to pull pressure off his scum buddy"

Don't you think Niv's story is a little too unique and detailed to fit that kind of scheme? Neither Niv nor yourself dispute that you are masons. Let's assume you are both masons, and somewhere there is a scum mason. Does it make sense that someone would think that Niv is calling out Simenon to pull pressure off Lemming? So early in the game, and so riskily?

Beastly wrote:Oh sorry this is my first game so I'm a little unsure of how people post and such. I didn't like her jab at MoS if you must know, plus she's pretty inactive and unhelpful.
Actually it's a bit of meta-gaming. MoS is very good at surviving games - which means that he is skilled in not pissing off the scum and getting nightkilled, and not shaking the town too much to get himself lynched. Yet, he manages to participate somewhat aggressively.

His posts so far have struck me as wishy-washy, and out of character. He's not himself it seems - but only in this game. It's also not his habit to fail to respond to being voted against, even when he's far from being in danger of a lynch. I don't expect most other players to see what I see, but I've played a great many games with MoS, and I think many players here have played none to a few. Gut-metagaming if you will.

It's probably not a bad idea to shake him up a bit and see if he's persistently out of character, or if he's having an off gamestart.

As I explained earlier, MoS is a survivor. He's hard to read, and very good at avoiding night kills. It's never a bad long-term strategy, especially in a big game, to keep some heat on MoS. If he's scum, you hope that he might slip up. I don't know if that's what Flare and Zorg have in mind, but I sure wouldn't like MoS to get complacent. ;-)

Wrong, I voted MoS on account of his being out of character. This has absolutely no bearing on my opinion of Flare's alignment. Independently of my observations on MoS, Flare's contributions seem to lean on the side of disruption, rather than contribution, so I would definitely add him to the scummy column.

It's a manner of play whereby you incite others to possibly compromise themselves (which is good if you catch scum) or bad if YOU are scum. Also, you incite others to compromise themselves, while avoiding to compromise yourself.

Upon further consideration, I am going to trust JDodge, and my own guts, on this one. I don't like White's line of questioning, as I posted earlier, he's trying to sink other players while avoiding compromising himself. JDodge says he has a case? I am going to believe it.

White, you have 5/12 votes. Yama has 7/12.

I don't know if you realize it, but you're coming off as panicky.

That post is weird... oh so weird...

First point against Ether has to do with quoting in red. Then about coaching. Ugh? Color me stupid. Then, some sort of esoteric explanation of speed reading??? "Bunch of WIFOM?" The whole thing of WIFOM is sketchy at best, so vague descriptions of bunches and bouquets and fogs of WIFOM have me really, really confused.

First time I ever hear an accusation of "buddying up to the lurkers." Whassup with that? What good is buddying up to lurkers???

I think I am going to take two aspirins and hit the sack.

White wrote:I guess a benefit to buddying up to lurkers is if you suspect them to be mafia...
Ugh, lurkers are lurkers, they're the same in every game, no reason to think lurkers are more likely to be scum here than other games, and how do you decide which lurker is scummier than the other lurkers and pick who you're going to buddy up to? Are you saying Ether is indiscriminately buddying up to the whole lot of them? I don't even get the first part of your statement... maybe I'll be luckier with the second. Oh, wait! No... no luck there either.
White wrote: ...and you buddy up to them then you end up doing their work for you.
You're saying that when you are "buddying up to lurkers" you are "doing their work" "for you" - do you mean "for them?" How is buddying up (the whole concept is dodgy but hey) to lurkers suspected of being scum doing their work for them??? Are you really saying it's because the lurkers will be more friendly to, say, Ether when they do "come out?" To continue with that absurd train of thought, isn't it the opposite? If the lurkers are scum, isn't bad for Ether that they'll come out, and be all warm and fuzzy with Ether? What "work" are you talking about anyway? If Ether is scum, and the lurkers are scum, say, OMG! My head is really spinning, this so doesn't make sense I can't even continue, my neurons are short-circuiting all over the place and it's giving a migraine.

I love that list with your thoughts on every player. It's quite striking... each player is damned on some sort of lurkermeter, except MoS.

MoS is the only player that White seems to really love.

Funny.

Since we appear to be stalling and people are complaining we're getting nowhere, here's a plan:

Only 3 more votes on White and we'll be in a range to get a claim from him - we'll have some "information" whose veracity we can discuss.

Obviously you haven't been following. I am voting White because I think he's scum. Six other players are also voting for White because they think he's scum.

Naturally, he's the guy whose claim I'd most like to see, and, presumably, he's the guy the other 6 players voting for him would most like to see as well. Since the game is stalling, if there are other players whose scumdar have been pinged by White's play, they ought to consider switching their vote - so we get somewhere.

I'd go as far as to say that The Fonz's attempt to derail the White wagon and keep the game in "park" is scummy. No?

More importantly...
@ Simenon
- hey, with Fonzie's vote switch, you are now one of those suspicious players that are on a 1-2 person wagon!

Like many other players, I happen to think White may be scum. I have no reason to believe he's got a power role - I don't think anyone here has any reason to believe he might have a power role. Thus I indeed expect he will fake claim, but it's still going to be something to discuss. That's why I wrote "information" in quotation marks, if you noticed.

Besides. Day 1, already 35 pages. By the end of the day, someone is going to claim - it's nearly inevitable, unless we lynch a total lurker who doesn't realize he's at -1 and gets hammered or sum'thin'.

Mainly for 857. It really makes her look as though she is blatantly setting White up as a mislynch.
To tell you the truth I'm really torn now. White has set off a five-alarm fire in my head that he's scum.

Simenon's stated reluctance to vote White startled me.

But wait! Now I get it. Simenon is, after all, a mason.

unvote

@MoS - I really, really don't see what's so special about Zorg. Whatever scent of scum he gives off, I must be immune to it. I read all the posts, and I just don't get it. But then again, I thought White was scum for sure, but obviously I was quite mistaken.

so your logic is flawed.
Well I don't know how these Masons work, and I don't want to push the issue because the last thing we need is a mass outing of Masons on Day 1.

But if Simenon says he is strongly opposed to a White lynch, he must have a strong reason. Maybe Niv isn't in on it, seeing that they had communication problems last night? I don't know.

Well then, I am totally confused. I totally don't get it anymore.

Simenon, a Mason came out and claimed to be "strongly opposed" to running up votes on White. "Strongly opposed" is a strong expression, normally, I would assume he's telegraphing to the town that he has inside information and telling us in no uncertain terms that we ought to back off a player whom he can confirm to be a townie.

I'll refrain from voting until the situation becomes clearer.

As for Niv's vote, it looks from the previous post that he may not have kept up with the game, maybe he forgot White is his masonbuddy?

BTW - I am modding Food Fight Mafia, ;-)

Interesting how some people started to vote for me because I wanted White to claim, and now I am forced to claim, which is not good. Interesting how the White wagon stalled, and my wagon took off like a rocket.

I don't know what I did wrong, but I apologize, whatever I did, I let the town down pretty bad, I have to be out Day 1.

Sadly, I'm a cop.

Accusations against me? As far as I can tell I've been stoned for not understanding what is up with Niv/Simenon/White.

I'd still like an explanation, and since Simenon hasn't confirmed that he's strongly opposed to a White because they are masons (they may not be)...

In a big game like this, where multiple cops are often encountered, a player is better off discretely
investigating
a cop claimant the next night, rather than outing himself with a counterclaim during the day.

Especially on Day 1 - it's bad enough I made myself a target by playing badly, now you've made yourself a target too, and neither of us has had the opportunity to investigate anyone.

White is at lynch -1, he seems to have vanished, and he's not claiming.

I see that as further sign that he is scum.

He's a -1 for a deadline lynch, a deadline thats 10 days away. theres a huge difference. Nice job with the facts though. you know what. TS probably is the way to go today. then white tomorrow.
unvote vote Toaster Strudel
This is an interesting vote move.

White was a lynch -1. ZONEACE here was among the voters.

When I complained that White appeared to have vanished, and that White is not claiming at a time when he should, ZONEACE removed his vote from
White
and decided to it was a better idea to lynch a cop.

Opinions?

I have a guilty, so I think I should go last. It's going to rush the day, and reduce the amount of information we gather from it.

With two cops (and maybe more), I think it's imperative that we be cautious and sort out special mechanics/sanities before acting out. Since the result was "guilty" - the scum might jump on it. This, regardless or Lemming's credibility, or mine, I think that it would be best if I were to go second.

Not at all. My choice was one of a very few obvious ones, and, I think, I made an intelligent one.

Geez... you guys sure are impatient.

I investigated Lemming. He was the logical choice. I still think it would have been better if he gave his result first, for that reason.

The Fonz is lying.

You can lynch me, I don't care - tomorrow you'll be lynching Fonz. Along with Lemming counterclaiming cop on Day 1, and Fonz outing himself as lying scum on Day 2, and lynching a cop, nobody knows how to play this game anymore, it seems.
