i have a feeling that Niv and Lemming are mafia. lemming was starting to gain votes from all his bandwagon hopping, and i think that Niv called out simenon to pull pressure off his scum buddy.
i think its probably easier for someone to say that i told them this and they never responded, and have the other person who never actually received anything look scummy.

Don't you think Niv's story is a little too unique and detailed to fit that kind of scheme? Neither Niv nor yourself dispute that you are masons. Let's assume you are both masons, and somewhere there is a scum mason. Does it make sense that someone would think that Niv is calling out Simenon to pull pressure off Lemming? So early in the game, and so riskily?

Oh sorry this is my first game so I'm a little unsure of how people post and such. I didn't like her jab at MoS if you must know, plus she's pretty inactive and unhelpful.

Actually it's a bit of meta-gaming. MoS is very good at surviving games - which means that he is skilled in not pissing off the scum and getting nightkilled, and not shaking the town too much to get himself lynched. Yet, he manages to participate somewhat aggressively.

His posts so far have struck me as wishy-washy, and out of character. He's not himself it seems - but only in this game. It's also not his habit to fail to respond to being voted against, even when he's far from being in danger of a lynch. I don't expect most other players to see what I see, but I've played a great many games with MoS, and I think many players here have played none to a few. Gut-metagaming if you will.

It's probably not a bad idea to shake him up a bit and see if he's persistently out of character, or if he's having an off gamestart.

Wrong, I voted MoS on account of his being out of character. This has absolutely no bearing on my opinion of Flare's alignment. Independently of my observations on MoS, Flare's contributions seem to lean on the side of disruption, rather than contribution, so I would definitely add him to the scummy column.

Because honestly I just went to the first page, looked at who was playing and asked the currently active people to comment on other people that are in the game. Hoping to get conversation flowing in a nondistracting direction and it's always helpful to know where people are leaning and how they feel about others when they die.

It's a manner of play whereby you incite others to possibly compromise themselves (which is good if you catch scum) or bad if YOU are scum. Also, you incite others to compromise themselves, while avoiding to compromise yourself.

Upon further consideration, I am going to trust JDodge, and my own guts, on this one. I don't like White's line of questioning, as I posted earlier, he's trying to sink other players while avoiding compromising himself. JDodge says he has a case? I am going to believe it.

Since we appear to be stalling and people are complaining we're getting nowhere, here's a plan:

Only 3 more votes on White and we'll be in a range to get a claim from him - we'll have some "information" whose veracity we can discuss.

Obviously you haven't been following. I am voting White because I think he's scum. Six other players are also voting for White because they think he's scum.

Naturally, he's the guy whose claim I'd most like to see, and, presumably, he's the guy the other 6 players voting for him would most like to see as well. Since the game is stalling, if there are other players whose scumdar have been pinged by White's play, they ought to consider switching their vote - so we get somewhere.

I'd go as far as to say that The Fonz's attempt to derail the White wagon and keep the game in "park" is scummy. No?

1) You believe White to be a scum, and think he would false claim. In that case, we would get a lot of "information" which would actually be all false and harmful to the town. (probably leading to outing of another role).

2) You think White is a power role and thus the information he will have when he claims is real. In this scenario, I would ask you why you are pushing rather hard for his lynch at the moment?

Like many other players, I happen to think White may be scum. I have no reason to believe he's got a power role - I don't think anyone here has any reason to believe he might have a power role. Thus I indeed expect he will fake claim, but it's still going to be something to discuss. That's why I wrote "information" in quotation marks, if you noticed.

Besides. Day 1, already 35 pages. By the end of the day, someone is going to claim - it's nearly inevitable, unless we lynch a total lurker who doesn't realize he's at -1 and gets hammered or sum'thin'.

umm it seemed to be from the conversation earlier in the day that all the 5 masons know who each other are, so if Simeon knew white was a mason, then logically so would Niv, which clearly isnt the case here.

Simenon, a Mason came out and claimed to be "strongly opposed" to running up votes on White. "Strongly opposed" is a strong expression, normally, I would assume he's telegraphing to the town that he has inside information and telling us in no uncertain terms that we ought to back off a player whom he can confirm to be a townie.

In a big game like this, where multiple cops are often encountered, a player is better off discretely

investigating

a cop claimant the next night, rather than outing himself with a counterclaim during the day.

Especially on Day 1 - it's bad enough I made myself a target by playing badly, now you've made yourself a target too, and neither of us has had the opportunity to investigate anyone.
