this is why everyone is voting for illumina...JSexton wrote:
Figured you'd ask.Illumina wrote:Okay - care to elaborate on those?
The most obvious. Why on earth would you consider this a good idea? Big tell.Illumina wrote:I'll go with a general no lynch vote for now
If you're analyzing how solid your play is, you probably have something to hide. Townies don't. Fairly big tell.Illumina wrote:I was actually tempted to vote for Lying (would have saved me from being "suspicious" and been a solid move from a townsperson and mafia ...
It seems pretty common for scum to cast vague suspicions on fellow scum without actually voting for them. It lets you have the best of both worlds. Small tell.Illumina wrote:I was tempted because his actions were a bit suspicious, but not enough to warrant a vote
That's awfully defensive. There was no pressure on you at that point. Medium tell.Illumina wrote:And because I needed to defend myself simply for not voting
Fishing. Small tell.Illumina wrote:is it even possible that the mafia could make three kills again this entire game?
4 games? You don't get to play the n00b card anymore. Medium tell.Illumina wrote:Sorry for the noob mistake - I was aware of the special roles, but not the two mafia families variation. (I've played about 4 games before)
I know you've sort of dealt with the 'no lynch' thing, but I'm not really satisfied. There's only three reasons for a no lynch. One is a complex situation that certainly didn't apply here. The others are both scum tactics, one for new scum, one for experienced scum. I don't know which you are yet.
Anyway, every post you make smells wrong. Taken as a whole, I'm pretty confident that you're scum.
do people simply follow the standardized tell rules around here...
i'll not vote for her...-

so, i looked over the game..
brian gets run up, no claim that i saw...
pooky gets run up, no claim that i saw..
brief run up on jabaroni, no claim...
and then we get this convoluted quoted post from sexton and the run begins on illumina...
all for mentioning a no lynch vote...
interesting...
why no follow thru on the other run ups..
stalls are telling to me...-

That being said, I'll be back on later tonight. I just don't have the time now.-

nice to see you can read the rules...Phoebus wrote:Zippy: Thin ice.
The mod specifically disallowed swearing in this game.
Directing expletives at him won't help you.
Very thin ice.
maybe you missed #9, while you were so worried about #10
9.I want this game to keep moving so i expect everyone to post at least once every two days and if you don't you will receive a prod on the third day if you still haven't posted I will take further action. If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period, please post a notice to that effect in the thread or PM me.-

Firstly, you're being rude and (more specifically) impatient to lynch non-participators and lurkers. While some mafia are more than likely among the lurkers, it's still a blind guess, and one that you're unusually eager for us to try. Risky, especially when we can ID people first. This is a big source of suspicion for me.
Also, your little slip earlier doesn't help you.
what slip...
voting people off who aren't even f'n playing anymore needs to happen or the game continues to stagnate...
please feel free to lynch me, i would rather be the lynch than sit and watch paint dry in this game for another 6 months...
can't wait till the game is down to swinkee, nanook the wolf, gonzo and blackberry....
might take another 6 months for them to vote...-

For being silly, swearing, to get us some information, and not the least of all: To finally try to finish this day.
gotta love the reasoning there my friend..
nothing like lynching the one guy trying to do something in this god forsaken game...-

illumina...
i'm not a fancy quoter but..
1. i had one vote and claimed a mason...clearly a joke, unless people other than peacebringer claim with one vote regularly...
2. i didn't notice you asked a question, but ime, especially in my small sample size at ms, lurkers = bad guys...
3. we have sat for a long time with the same 5 or 6 guys talking about lynching lyingbrian, without result...i took it upon myself to do as the rules instructed and HAVE FUN!...to say the town would not be achieving anything is quite naive, since how would you know unless you are scum...
4. reality is, participation is the key to the game....if you never say anything how could anyone possibly gain information...encouraging people to not talk is discouraging people who actually enjoy the game...the only way to fix this, is to lynch them early and often...the last thing a mod could want is a few guys who haven't done jack all game, deciding the outcome...
finally, lynching me based on the fact that i wanted to create some activity in this thread is ridiculous...
oh and don't forget the ever popular, "used the word gay as slang" reason...-

i would rather sacrifice one game, or ten games for that matter, to weed out the people who sign up and don't participate...Illumina wrote:
I see where you're coming from about participation - I think accurate discussion is the best way to move the game forward. Still, would you favor discouraging lurking generally (through lynching lurkers on principle like this) over preserving the town's chances of winning in this specific game? Frankly, I'd rather aim for a higher chance at victory.
if they are lynched d1 or d2 each and every time then they will quit and that makes the game a lot more enjoyable...
i can appreciate people not sitting around all day, every day, posting in the game threads...but to sign up and and comment once every couple of weeks is f'n lame...and should be punished...
we aren't playing for money, i don't think...
how pro town can you be if you never provide any information, via posting in the game threads...
what if we took this one little game and expanded the lynch lurker attitude to other games we played in, thereby eliminating lurking as a playstyle..
i submit the overall games would be better....-

this game is meant to be played by evaluating conversation between the players...
please tell me how lurkers make the game playable...
i was asked to replace someone in this game, and have even been prodded once...
i just don't get the reasoning behind letting people play like that...
please feel free to lynch a participating pro town player...-
