In high school a best friend was female, so the guy that liked her saw me as a rival. We also had similar interests and both got good grades and whoops suddenly we're always 1 upping each other ugh. Thankfully he swapped schools after a couple years
Then at my university I *considered* running for a student body elected position, *decided not to*, and was rivals with the guy who got the position for like 3 years just because he *thought* he was running against me at the time. We also had similar interests and stuff, which I guess has to be part of it because otherwise you're just strangers who never interact.

I didn't really want either rivalry but did not know how to escape them. I wasn't about to CHANGE INTERESTS u know. Boys I guess

I get where you're coming from, I do think I've been slightly more on the aggressive side this game, but I think that's probably because it's a large with a bunch of vets so I feel I need to be more direct and to the point to actually glean memorable/useful info. and also because one of our past games was a Newbie and I try to put the kiddie gloves on in Newbies

My scumread has never actually been "strong" per se, I've kind of been doing this thing internally regarding Datisi where I feel like if I find him a little scummy I have to, like, protect myself by tunneling him to make sure he doesn't trick me like he usually tricks people (including me)

I think scamper's vote comes from town feeling paranoid that we're all just spinning our wheels while spreading too many townreads and worrying that scum must be inside the townblock at this point.

Given I've received very little scrutiny and townreads have come my way very easily, I make sense as the target of that paranoia. On the other hand, what scamper may or may not know is that unless I'm experimenting with my playstyle (which I'm not this game), I usually receive townreads from everybody regardless of alignment.

It's possible there's more to the vote, though, so I'll wait and see. Anyone want to wagon Datisi or maybe Gamma with me?

So anyway on Thursday evening I lost 4 days of work when my computer crashed. And then today I lost 6 hours of work when Microsoft PowerPoint crashed.

I used “tunnel” in a joke-y manner in this game. It’s more of an intentional “I refuse to see Datisi as town” than “no matter how hard I try I can’t townread him”. Probably tunnel was a poor choice of words. I’ve previously found him lightly scummy, realized no one else did, let him make a few good points about my read on him, and gave up on scum reading him, when in reality he was scum. He’s great at defusing scumreads on him and I’m one of 2-3 people scumreading him. It feels like… valuable to hold onto it even though it’s not as confident as I’ve made it seem

Agree to disagree, though on D1 my reads are very much in flux. I picture mafia as a bunch of people finding their seats around a circle. Scum try to scatter around the circle so that when mobs start forming, each mob has a scum or two to help direct it. Meanwhile town are trying to sit together so scum can’t influence them (makes sense in my head). D1 I flit around the circle, joining groups of townies and then abandoning them to see if things make more sense from the other side of the circle. Nothing is set in stone until someone flips. So maybe y’all just generally have a problem with my projected confidence when in my own head I’m only ever talking from that point of view temporarily, and using semi-inflated confidence to keep the game moving

I've suddenly lost, like, a lot of motivation for this game. Probably partially because I'm being scumread, just to be honest, but also mainly because there's so many posts and I feel lost which is not a feeling I usually have in mafia games. I think if someone else wrote this post I'm writing, I would think it was scummy, but I just want to be honest about how I'm feeling because I can foresee people possibly choosing me for a lim here because I'm withdrawing while a wagon is growing on me, and I guess I just want to make it clear that I don't have the fortitude or free time to earn my way to being a top townread again like I used to (which is NAI in my opinion because I've done it as both alignments and failed to do it as both alignments)

But I'll start trying to sort a bit again because that's at least marginally protown if I can manage to have a few strong + accurate reads

This is actually a mildly interesting votecount. If Eiraloxslot is town then there's probably 2-3 scum in {humaneatingmonkey, fireisredsir, Gamma Emerald, scamper, Datisi, Nero Cain, Aristeia, ConManMick, marcistar, xofelf, Dunnstral, Eiralox} and 1-2 in {Ydrasse, VP Baltar, skitter30, DeasVail, GuiltyLion, Ausuka, Firebringer}.
