Masons are insane power for town. 3 man masons doubly so. Lycan AND succinct both proposed 3 masons based on setup spec AND mod meta and I still had a hard time believing it.

Anyone who underestimated the power of masons have clearly never played scum in a game with creature in it. Which btw having him in a game is close to a power role for town as you can get. I can't describe to you how disruptive he is to any scum plan. I've played as scum against town!creature 3 times now I think and literally every night you have to put him as an option for NK instead of hunting PRs and every day you basically have one less townie to mislynch as an option. Having him in that white flag game was basically an auto win for town.
So that's just one conftown's power. Imagine 2 masons. 3 for that juicy surprise factor and even greater power.
Unlike investigatives mason dying is not that bad for town either because it's basically a bodyguard for actual town PRs.

Watcher for mafia is only good if kept alive and it catches a PR, because it's a get out of 1 lynch free deal and then die when town asks why you aren't dead.

Our only good PR was the one that had a limit on it.

Maybe it was balanced maybe it wasn't, that's not my strong suit. But it's definitely not scum sided.
