Mini 107 - Super Mario Bros. Mafia: GAME OVER

A group of villains is out to conquer the Mushroom Kingdom. The Chancellor of the Mushroom Kingdom has gathered a group of concerned citizens to find a way to stop these villains but the villains have managed to infiltrate the group. Can Mario and his friends stop these villains, or will his "friends" betray him before then?

1. Do not post anything game related once you are dead. A simple “bah!” post is acceptable, but not posting would be preferable.

7. Should a deadline be reached and no one has a majority, the player with the most votes will be lynched. However, if no one has over half of a majority of votes by the deadline, no lynch will occur. In the case of a tie, whomever was at the required number of votes first will be lynched.

The Chancellor of the Mushroom Kingdom was quite annoyed. The town meeting was supposed to start an hour ago, but only ten of the twelve members were present.

“Alright, who’s the late?” asked the Chancellor. The group took a quick role call and found that Princess Peach (mlaker), and Bowser (PBuG) were missing.

“A ha!” exclaimed the Chancellor, “ Bowser must have kidnaped the Princess again. Lets go find that dirty scum!”

So, the angry mob stormed over to Bowser’s Keep, only to find Bowser lying face down in the moat, dead, with a golf ball embedded in his skull.

A puzzled look crossed the Chancellor’s face, but suddenly he shouted, “A ha!” Everyone turned to see what he had to say. “Bowser must have killed himself to throw off our suspicion. We have our killer!” he stated with the utmost conviction.

Unconvinced by the Chancellor’s “logic” the others searched Bowser’s Keep and found that Bowser had been using his contacts in the criminal world to investigate people during the night.

Surprised by this turn of events, the group returned to the castle to search the Princess’s room. This time, behind a picture on a wall, they found a manifesto detailing her plans to take over the Mushroom Kingdom as well as an incriminating golf club.

Utterly confused by the strange events, the Chancellor decided to take a new approach: mob justice. And so he proclaimed:

Bowser (PBuG), cop, found dead.
Princess Peach (mlaker), mafia, disappeared during the night.

It is Day 1. With 10 alive, it will take 6 to lynch.

That's wierd, Yggdrasil, in the death scene, you have mlaker as peach, and PBuG as bowser; but in the first post you have them reversed. Which was which?

The Mushroom Chancellor looks puzzled at his proclamation. He quickly glances around to make sure no one is looking then scratches out the mistake and writes in the correct information.

After a long day of confusing deliberation you all point your fingers at Prizm, who cries, “don’t lynch me, I’m Princess Daisy, the cop. It’s Ashes you should be after. She’s the evil one!”

Everyone looks around at each other confused, murmuring:

“2 cops?"

“Is he insane?”

“1984"

And then you all point your fingers at Ashes who lets out an evil laugh and admits that she’s Wario and that she wants everyone dead.

So, you kill her.

Almost certain you got scum tonight, you decide to check Wario's room, and too your surprise...

He was the vigilante? Yes, it appears that he was on your side after all.

Thoroughly confused, you all decide to go to sleep before your heads explode from all of the madness of day 1.

After an unsettling night, you all awake to a very bright light shining in your eyes. You all walk outside to discover a giant searchlight pointing into the residence of Boo (Maverick). Being a ghost, Boo was especially sensitive to light. So, when the intense light hit him, he simply evaporated.

“I don’t understand,” said the Chancellor again, somewhat confused by the murder. “How do they kill a ghost? Aren’t they already dead?”

As the Chancellor pondered this inscrutable paradox, you decide to do something more useful and search Boo’s house. It turns out that he was partially invisible at night, and if someone targeted him, that person would have only a 50% chance of success. I guess Boo must have forgotten to pick up a four-leaved clover.

So, in a rather quick series of events, Prizm announces “I leave my fate in your hands.”

Well, unfortunately he left his fate in the wrong hands as those hands quickly strung him up and hung him.

A search of Prizm’s property reveals that he really was Princess Daisy, who really was a cop.

As the third day dawns, everyone is jolted awake by a terrible scream. You all rush out and see that the scream has come from Mario’s (Banana Bob’s) house. Oh no! What will become of everyone with the hero of the game dead? What will Nintendo do without its star? Will there be no more Mario games? Will everyone have to be in Super Unemployment Bros. 64?

Everyone frantically rushes over to Mario’s Pad to see him lying on the floor, dead and moustache-less.

The autopsy showed during the middle of the night, someone secretly shaved off Mario’s trademark handlebar moustache. Upon waking, Mario took a look in the mirror and, to his fright, saw that his moustache was gone, the shock of which gave him a heart attack.

“Aha!” Exclaimed the Chancellor. “We have our Mafia. McDonald’s is the killer!”

Unfortunately, McDonalds’ lawyers prevent you from lynching them, so you’ll have to make due killing one of your own to satisfy your thirst for revenge. But before you do that, you look into Mario’s activities and find that he was just a regular citizen, with no special abilities at all. Some hero...

And so, the crowd gathers, knowing that a wrong lynch today could spell doom. After a quick series of role claims, you all decide that you like the odds better tomorrow and vote no lynch.

As the final vote comes in, the Chancellor enters and asks for the decision.

“Why didn’t I think of that?” He says. “Of course Nolynch is scum! Why I ought to string that dirty Nolynch up and...”

Then you explain to him that you’re not lynching anyone today. So, you all walk back to your houses to get a good night sleep.

All of you, that is, except for one.

Mr_Gnome_It_All hapily walking along, busy planning his scheme to take over the Mushroom Kingdom. This evening he was particularly pleased with himself because not only did he get rid of his good-for-nothing brother, Mario, but the town also so eagerly believed his claim of Baby Bowser. Things couldn't be better for him.

Unfortunately, he was run over by a runaway go-kart as he strolled home that evening. As you investigate the road-kill, you realize he was none other than Luigi, a member of the mafia.

As the rest of the town slept, Dr. Mario (sycko999) was up into the early morning studying up on his medical techniques. With people dying left and right, he figured that he needed to be prepared in case the mafia struck one of his patients. Little did he know that tonight, his patients would not be the ones needing help.

After taking a brief nap with his head buried in the Handbook on how to treat Golf Ball Wounds, he was startled by a loud crash, followed by a loud clang. A golf ball had flown through his window and punctured a tank of nitrous oxide. He obviously found this pretty amusing as he began laughing hysterically. Until a flaming tennis ball came crashing through his window...

The town’s peaceful sleep was interrupted by a huge explosion. You all rush out to see a large cloud of smoke coming from Dr. Mario’s clinic. Then, many multicolored pills come showering down, just like in Dr. Mario’s video game.

The day began with a flurry of accusations which slowly died down as the town realized just how little leads they had. However, after the chancellor announced a deadline, two quick votes put an end to the slow discussion.

The town marched max22 down to the gallows, prepared the noose, and hung him.

After the execution, a search of max22's house revealed a large stash of bananas. As it turns out, max22 really was Donkey Kong, who really was a townie.

As night fell, two members of the town headed to their houses to get some sleep. The third stayed awake to do his dirty work.

The shadowy figure passed through some dark alleys mumbling in a deranged voice:

“All they ever do is just sit on me. Climb on my back and ride me around everywhere like I’m just some sort of vehicle. Well I’ll show them. Tonight, I finally get my revenge!”

The figure laughed maniacally as he made his way toward Toad’s house.

Toad (korais666), a connoisseur of mushrooms such as the much valued 1-Up mushroom, was pacing about house. On other nights, he could have given the 1-Up mushroom to others and given them an extra life, but he had greedily kept the mushroom to himself fearing that it might have fallen into the wrong hands. But, he knew that a mafia takeover was imminent, so he reached into his cabinet and grabbed the 1-Up mushroom.

“This should keep the mafia from getting me,” he said as he took a big bite out of the green-spotted mushroom.

As Toad felt the live imbuing effects of the 1-Up mushroom wash over him, he heard a knocking at the door. Suddenly, a hundred purple flying monkeys burst into the door! Unbeknownst to Toad, the mafia had replaced the 1-Up mushroom with a very powerful hallucinogenic ‘shroom. Toad frantically ran stumbling around the room under attack from the imaginary primates. He reached into the closet again to pull out his bazooka and blast those monkeys back to the kingdom of purple flying monkeys.

Unfortunately for Toad, using a bazooka in close quarters is not a good idea.

The explosion from Toad’s house shook the entire kingdom. Koopa Troopa (indentureddjinn), hiding in his shell, heard the blast and figured that the mafia had done their kill for the night. Checking his watch, he saw that day had begun. So, he peaked his head out of his shell, only to be greeted by a nice, moist tongue, which quickly slurped him up.

Yoshi (Argoti) let out a satisfying belch as he walked out of Koopa Troopa’s house. Finally, he had accomplished his goal. No more Mario Brothers. Yoshi pulled out his cell phone and called up his agent. With everyone else dead, Nintendo had no choice but to make him the next star.

With the mafia spreading panic around the Mushroom Kingdom, its up to you to find out just what everyone is up to. Each night you may investigate one player and see whether they are good or evil. You win when all the mafia are dead.

Chaos has befallen the Mushroom Kingdom. And guess what? This time its not your fault. In fact, you are quite angry that someone else is out to kill Mario. So, using your connections with the criminal underworld, you can see who has been involved in some shady deals. Each night you may investigate one player and see whether they are mafia or not. You win when all the mafia are gone.

When people are dying, its your job to save them. Each night you may submit to me the name of a player you would like to protect. You win when no mafia remain living.

Yay, mafia members are out in the Mushroom Kingdom trying to kill people. Finally, you can get your revenge on Mario. But, wait... the mafia is after you, too! Well, your skills as a villain might come in handy. Each night, you may submit to me the name of a player who you would like to kill. When all of the mafia and Mario are dead, you win.

You are Boo: (Maverick)
Being a ghost has a distinct advantage; at night, you are nearly invisible and very hard to find. Whenever someone targets you at night, they have a 50% chance of succeeding. You win when the mafia has been eliminated.

You are Donkey Kong: (max22)
Although you used to be Mario’s enemy and kidnap Princess Peach, you’ve given up your evil ways after getting your own video game series (your agent says it’s bad PR to be kidnaping princesses). So, everyday you can vote to lynch someone. When all the mafia are gone, you win.

Who is killing who? What’s all this voting going on? Who’s trying to take over the Mushroom Kingdom? Sometimes you wish you could just stay inside your shell sometimes. Luckily, you can. Yup. Daisy's good/evil results would not have anything to do with whether the character was mafia or not. It would only say whether the character was considered a good guy or bad guy in the games.

Also: I don't think the game should have ended just yet, since in theory, argoti could have been stupid and attacked ID, who I was planning on giving the mushroom to, then we would have lynched argoti tomorrow, but I guess that probably wouldn't have happened so never mind[/spitballing]

Just to make you feel better. I went into night and waited for Argoti to send me his kill before I ended the game.
