BaM Ruleset


1.) Votes must be
bolded
and at the start of a line. If we don’t see it, we wont count it. Alternatively, please use the convenient voting tags.

2.) Unvoting is nice, but not necessary.

3.) Once a majority is reached, that person is lynched.

4.) If there is no majority at deadline, there will be no lynch for that day.

5.) Day 1 will have an approximated deadline based on when the game starts – it will be no less than a week. All following days will have a deadline of 7 days.

6.) Nights will have 48 hours maximum. Any night actions not submitted will simply not happen – the thread should be open 48 hours following a deadline lynch.

7.) Do not talk about this game outside the thread unless your role allows you to, and only do so in the way(s) specifically allowed by your role.

8.) When you die, you are dead. Stay that way.

9.) Do not edit posts. Do not use invisible text. Do not use small text.

10.) Do not quote any communication from the mod (that includes PMs) in the game thread.

11.) If you are going to be gone for an extended period of time, please let me know. See rule 12.

12.) If you do not post for the equivalent of a full game day (see rule 5) you will be modkilled. Further, you will be blacklisted from any future games using the BaM ruleset. Keep in mind that there are no replacements
for flaking
in a BaM ruleset game. Other circumstances requiring replacement are up to the mods discretion.

13.) If you notice mistakes aside from the vote count, PM me. Bold notification about vote count issues in the thread.

14.) Play to win.

15.) Play with the spirit of the game in mind.

15.a.) This means ASK before you do something you think I might question. Questions are good. Modkills are bad. See rule 12.

16.) Have fun. Remember that everyone playing are actually real people and treat them as such.

In cases of contradiction, the first action submitted will resolve first.


Game-Specific Rules


1. Everyone player has received a Role PM for a role he or she has already played in his or her Mafia career. This does not include Marathon-day games or games played as part of a hydra. Games played under a public-knowledge alternate account are included. Games replaced into are included; games replaced out of generally are not, though exceptions to the rule are possible providing the player notified the Moderator prior to the game and obtained a specific exception for the specific role.

2. Only completed games where the role information is completely public (i.e. the Moderator posted all the initial Role PMs in the thread after the game had been completed) are eligible to have roles taken from them. Players may quote these Role PMs in the game thread; however,

3. The game may or may not include some variant mechanics which will accommodate certain mechanics implied by the various roles.

4. Various edits on original Role PMs are possible. For example, all win conditions and confirmation methods were standardized (please see the nest post for examples). Other, generally minor, edits may have been performed on Role PMs at the Moderator's discretion.

ChannelDelibird will be Modkilled if he does not post for the entirety of one game Day. This will only take effect if the Day runs, say 5/7th of the time until deadline, or otherwise at my discretion (in other words, I will not allow lynches to be used to force Modkill players). That'd be five real-life days. This goes for anyone who has not yet posted Day 2, in fact.

I have quite a bit to say about this setup and this style of game. In general it's obvious it was very swingy, but I don't think I could've cut that down much without taking much of the fun out of the mechanic. I will say right off the bat that TheButtonmen drew the short end of the stick. At the advice of both of my reviewers/setup-lookers-over, the Mafia team proper didn't know that he existed (a fact of which TheButtonmen was aware).

ChannelDelibird, as far as I can tell, picked up all his prods and posted elsewhere on the site. He did not tell me that he needed replacement or anything -
and
in a game which by its very nature did not lend itself to replacements, a fact I stressed to everyone considering joining the game. Needless to say I am . . . chagrined that the Modkill needed to take place. I was generous and let dramonic submit CDB's Roleblock Night 1 even though CDB wasn't around. That specific Modkill I will defend before a host of people whopreach the avoidance of Modkills at almost any cost - but I digress. Town played decently but weren't quite clever enough, a fact helped out by the fact that the Mafia did not successfully kill a single player. Inquisitors played well in general - it would've been tough Day 4 without Vi's very very strong ability hitting a scumbag I don't think Vi at all expected to find - if UncertainKitten didn't manage to successfully recruit Night 1, it would've been noticeably harder.

Well, at least it wasn't really broken in Town's favor, but it would've been tough to be plain old SK, and the Mafia - well, dramonic picked the wrong immunity, especially given a known Vig/SK around, I think, and CDB did nothing, and I think screl would've lived a bit longer and tied up Night actions out of the way for a bit had the Mafia team (CDB again here would've been useful) successfully gotten someone else lynched Day 1, which as far as I know would've been possible with a little more proactive teamwork.

OR you really can't use an Inquisitor in a Mini. Sample size is way too small to tell. But yes, Inquisitor is a role which takes calculation (though UK lucked out in the fact that Vi was such a powerful role to start with). I
did
have to edit/manipulate some Role PMs here, including UK (removed some Roleblock-type abilities the Role had) and bv310 (removed Command Points altogether, and edited it so that if he targeted scum only he would die, not the entire Masonry - it was swingy enough, I thought) and TheButtonmen (the entire fact that the Mafia team didn't know he existed at all).

I replaced into Stars Aligned 2 because I'd offered myself as such when Percy reviewed Lay of Leithian Mafia, and because I didn't want to regret not playing in one of the things. Not my best play, but my buddy bussed me very well, so it all worked out nicely.
