209.58: Gonner bet Anders that he could down a whole pack of Klathian Double Beer. The servbot is cleaning up the mess area.

209.61: Supply ship came today. Food, parts, living materials, and the new heat transfer unit. Hotshot pilot buzzed the red giant on his way in.

209.62: A ZX-513 vaccine sample came on the supply ship. Anders insisted on testing it on some of the living materials before we use it ourselves.

209.65: Heard Stevens shouting from the #3 lab. Something about ZX-513 giving people telepathy. I think it's time to schedule Stevens for a vacation.

209.66: Solar flare activity. Deepspace comm is down for the next few days.

209.68: One of the living materials escaped today. She managed to damage a containment unit before she was captured. Smith checked it out, says it will hold.

209.69: The damaged containment unit breached. Lab #2 is sealed. I'm putting the station under quarantine to be safe.

The setup was tilted against the scum. I was afraid if it wasn't, townies might play to get infected rather than play to win as town. It might have been more heavily tilted than necessary.

The scum's best play might have been to not try to infect and just treat it as vanilla nightless. They had no way of knowing that though - and the threat of a security guard discouraged that play.

I was a little surprised when people started assuming there would only be one scientist. I did some randomized computer simulations to help with the setup design, and multiple scientists don't help nearly as much as you'd think - they mostly just end up vaccinating people some other scientist vaccinated on a previous night.

This doesn't make a lot of sense to me as the setup wouldn't be revealed until a few days in... Did you expect the town to reject selling out to the scum, by metagaming that the mod wouldn't make the game winnable for scum?

Actually I expected some townies to hedge their play a bit from the very beginning, and a few days in if the scum were obviously winning I'd expect it to become worse.

I asked. I wanted to know what you had actually given the town in terms of power. However, I'm not sure telling test subjects is any detriment to the town, I don't think scum would ever risk targeting a claimed test subject. I would be interested in running this game being run again. I know I asked you about it being put in mini form shortly after the marathon game, and I'm glad it happened. Why didn't you put a guard in the setup Xyl?

Guard was intended as a red herring; I never actually considered putting one in. The role list was pretty much designed to maximize WIFOM, and actually having a guard wouldn't be very WIFOM-y. ("Oh, someone got incinerated, must be a guard!") If I did put one in I'd have to reduce the flavor so that you couldn't tell if a kill was an infection or a guard kill.

I don't think I'm going to be running another sequel - when I do feel like modding another game I'll probably want to try something different - but anyone who wants to pick up the idea and run another is welcome to do so.
