When I first read the early pages of this game I thought that Matt_S came across as town. But then a doubt crept in as I wondered how a scum would react in the situation where someone is calling for a mass claim. It looks to me that it's possible that Matt is scum and sorta panicked when Khelvaster said he thought the town roles were all fellowship characters. Because in that situation a mass claim would be game over for scum. So he he chose to pre-empt it, claimed to have no role, and acted the part from there.

I'm not sure this is how it went down... I just think it's possible. And it (plus the wishy washy vote) makes Matt_S good enough for a day 1 lynch.

Regarding Coolbot, I was under the impression that he did NOT claim to be un-named. I was under the impression that he simply claimed he did not have one of the 9 main Fellowship character names. Did I understand this correctly, Coolbot?

Khelvaster: What made you mention Nazgul in post 8 of this game? Was there some flavour text indicating this that has since been removed by the mod? Or did you just assume that the scum would be the Nazgul?

What do you want discussion on? How about posing some questions or something? Otherwise how is your unvote helping the discussion to move along? You gotta be proactive or the game will drag on, the mod will set a deadline and 9 times out of 10 a hapless townie will be lynched.

I prefer to miss out all the dragggging out of nothing and just head straight to the lynching of the hapless townie (or the hapless scum, if we get lucky.)

I wasn't given a name when i replaced in, and I assume that the other replacees don't have names either. This doesn't mean that people who are original players shouldnt claim... I will mull over that for a while.

And i think we gotta move on before 7 more players drop out. It's been a month. Seriously, game days drag on far too long.

I don't want to lynch Matt just for information. I think there's a good chance he's scum. But I concede there's also a good chance he's a townie. That's mafia. I've learnt that it's often good play on day one to go ahead and lynch someone who claims townie. This way you don't risk bandwagonning a doctor or useful town role and make them claim, only to switch back to the townie having blown their cover and gained nothing.

Just out of curiousity, why would lynching Matt not give us any useful information after 1 month and 10 pages of game? If we go on much longer any useful information will be buried in far too many pages to ever find again, anyway.

Did the mod delete a post of Matt's? What happened there? A brief explanation from someone who knows what is going on would be good.

I decided to read over because I didn't feel that I have a very good handle on this game. I didn't finish yet, but I am definitely seeing the possibility that eljcko could be scum

I am still reading over and just wanted to mention my amusement at the discussion on whether Matt was given a safe-claim of 'vanilla townie'.

I can see the role PM now... "You are Saruman. Your safe-claim is, well, it's a townie with no name. Hope that helps. Love, the mod."

(OK, I guess it is remotely possible. But I like my desperate-attempt-to-foil-game-breaking-mass-claim explanation better. Anyway we've moved on from Matt now, so this is all irrelevant. Sorry.)

And why are you so angry at the players who want to use all the information we have to find scum? I'm in the same position as you being a replacement with no role name or flavour, and I can relate a little to your frustration, but I still can't understand the fierceness of your attitude.

Epic post indeed, but it's mostly just a wrap up of all my posts with Imat putting his scummy spin onto everything I have said or done.

Um, why? Bear in mind I was a replacement who was eager to catch up and give my take of the game. Everyone could see if others had said similar things, it was all right there in black and white.

If you don't get something Imat, you could ask for clarification. If you are actually interested in hunting for scum that is... I don't think you are though. You've decided I'm an easy looking lynch for today, and you're likely trying to draw the bandwagon away from your buddy eljcko.

Imat also says that I voted Eljcko for his absence. Not true. It was partially pressure, partially gut, and partially ting.

As B&B has mentioned, he's away on vacation and probably will not have internet access for 2 weeks. No luck getting a temp replacement yet. But you guys are all wonderful and have displayed super-awesome patience during the game so far... so if everyone is happy to just wait for B&B to get back, then I am happy too.
