And to answer your direct question, I have never read any games other than the ones I have played in. I have played in two games total in the newbie queue of this site, and that is the entire sum of my experience with the game of mafia in any form.

You may wonder why I wouldn't have read any prior games. Well, to be honest, I think the concept sounds ridiculously boring, and also the idea of having to read prior games in order to gain a competitive advantage (knowing player meta, etc) is distasteful to me, because it then feels like some aspects of the game become about who is willing to waste more time reading old game threads to get that advantage, and that's just not a game I want to play. Thus far I have patently refused to read prior game threads for the purposes of researching someone's meta, even when directly asked to by the IC whom I had a lynch vote on.

However, I would make an exception to my personal rule about not reading old game threads if the purpose was to actually inform myself about the game setup. Not having any clue of the game setup and having to ask questions about it is just going to waste people's time. And I'm already somewhat sorry that I've done so here, because I'm sure it's irritating some people already.

I feel like my attitude towards meta might be misunderstood so I wanted to be clear on it up front. I also didn't want to seem inconsistent for resisting looking up prior games for the purposes of gathering evidence on what the layout of this game might be, but then later resisting reading people's meta, which if history is any guide, I will at some point be prompted to do.

If I was afraid of something coming out, I probably wouldn't voluntarily talk about it at all.

I believe that I've made longer and stronger efforts at applying consistent pressure to pisskop than Johnny did, but I will admit that my technique is poor. If Johnny is going to dismiss me and my viewpoints because I am a newbie, doesn't that mean that I get to criticize Johnny for not getting more results as an experienced player?

I call this the "You're better than this" fallacy, and it's made quite a few of the best people I've ever played with decide to stop playing. This game is complicated, and only gets more complicated as the players get better. It's not fair to expect someone to reliably and consistently get good results in such a deep and open ended game. Especially on day one.
