You know, you really aren't saying "Bobness..."beanbagboy wrote:Whee! In other games, Bob has said coppelia minus the accent is fine with her, but I just like saying "Bobness".

I don't think it's the fact that there is a bandwagon. Bandwagons are a necessity in this early stage. What I think everyone is suspicious of is that you, Shanba, seem to ask for our permission to join the bandwagon, as if we might not want you...Shanba wrote:MightyFireball: Yes, that was a serious accusation. You say a wagon is growing suspiciously quickly but jump on it yourself?I put the "laughter" in manslaughter.-

OMG! My gosh, Shanba, I did misread your quote! When you said "MightyFireball: Yes, that was a serious accusation. You say a wagon is growing suspiciously quickly but jump on it yourself?" I thought you were defending yourself, I forgot to go back and check. Yes, that suspicion was directed at Khelvaster, not you Shanba. My mistake entirely. Sooo...
Khelvaster, do you have anything to say on that subject of bandwagon permission.

I would really like to hear from the nonposters before I do anything. I am leaning towards Khelvaster, but I don't want to do anything too rash. So, can you guys post something? Like your reactions to Khelvaster? Favorite color? Anything! Well, preferably something substantial, but...

If this is the case, why did you wait until now to use this in your defense? I still will not vote for you, I want to hear more on this from you and others first.khelvaster wrote:Anyway, this is my first mafia game over forums. I've played a few times before on mIRC, but never in this format. I was trying to get the game moving in the beginning, and the way we generally do it on mIRC is to bw a random person after a couple minutes of talking. I figured that things would be the same here, so I was pointing out bws that were developing. I realized after reading some posts that it was being really scummish to point out bws, so now I've stopped.
Getting a little defensive are we?khelvaster wrote:I still go to school--I came on last night, and I'm on again. Does getting on every 18 hours make me inactive? no, no, not claimed newbie defense, I meant use the fact that in mIRC mafia you bandwagon earlier, if you had brought that up right away, you might have avoided some suspicion. The fact that you left that part out for awhile leads me to suspect that it is just a tale. It could be true, but it could also be false.I put the "laughter" in manslaughter.-

No, it would not imply that. One could have played there in mIRC, and then merely switched to here and played a few games, but still use the same basic strategies.khelvaster wrote:Saying in mIRC we bandwagoned early would imply that I am not used to the scum forums--something I wanted to avoid for reasons I already stated.I put the "laughter" in manslaughter.-

while I agree with what d8P said, that you can't just randomly switch from bandwagon to bandwagon, I do have to also agree with Bobelia, that that is sometimes the only way day 1 is played. In my opinion, all that we can do is find the most scummy person, put a little pressure on them, get them into a discussion, even a discussion about the way day 1 should be handled, and wait for someone to slip up.I put the "laughter" in manslaughter.-

While this is not an accusation against Mighty, it is something suspicious I find in his response. All he does is repeat what everyone else said, instead of coming up with his own thoughts. Now, if his own thoughts are exactly the same, and we can't know for certain whether they are or not, that's fine, but that seems highly unlikely.I put the "laughter" in manslaughter.-

MF, check posts 149 and 152. There we have not only one, but two people saying that Earwig has posted 11 times.
andMighty Fireball wrote:Quote:
In fact, having fewer posts is probably as bad or worse than having more with little information in them.
These two statements are direct and exact contradictions of themselves. Can you please explain, Mighty?Mighty Fireball wrote:Posting without content is, in most cases, worse than not posting at all.I put the "laughter" in manslaughter.-

Because we don't have any role confirms to go off of, the only way we can get information is to bandwagon and see how the person defends themselves. I, too, shall say that Aimee's analysis was quite impressive, mostly due to the fact that I probably couldn't keep my thoughts in line for that long of a post.I put the "laughter" in manslaughter.-

While I said I agree with much of what Aimee had to say, (I especially liked her use of the word "whilst," (I'm an author, and I don't even use that word often,)) I don't agree with her on BBB's account of Coppelia. I don't find Coppelia scummy in the slightest. However, BBB's accusation does not appear scummy, so much as overeager. To me, BBB seems to be a logical player. He plays by the book, so to speak, which explains his use of the 3rd vote=scum philosophy. He seems knowledgeable about the game of Mafia and knows its ins and outs, and uses logic and the rules and those wiki guidelines to track down scum. While I am not trying to disprove anything Aimee had to say, the previous is my analysis of BBB and I do not believe he is scum, (yet...) MWHH.I put the "laughter" in manslaughter.-

hey, everybody, announcement: I finally graduated today! I am free of school! MWHH!!!!! At least until college starts up...
And then I have a question for anyone to answer: I've never played with a vigilante before, is it wise to leave them alone so they can vigilante scum, or wise to lynch them so they don't get trigger-happy?
It is in my opinion right now that Earwig is lurking. If he had time to read that we were getting impatient with his not posting, one would think that he would have had time to come up with at least something to say. Also, I have seen him around the forum at other times, not posting here while posting at others. And yet, despite the fact that Ripley especially has brought up these cases against him, he refuses to comment. I wonder if he maybe forgot about this game or is trying a different playing strategy... but I feel he is lurking. My vote against Khelvaster is also being reconsidered at the moment. It might be better served on Earwig, but I am not prepared to unvote yet.I put the "laughter" in manslaughter.-

Yes, Aimee, Eariwg's actions do indeed give me suspicion. He has appeared now 3 times in the last two pages, saying that a re-read will come soon. I especially don't like this post:
He apologizes, (a play on people's emotions) and then says that he will never do it again. But he never offers an explanation! I don't really care what it is. I just want one, so that we have something to go on against him, should we choose to pursue.Earwig wrote:
I apologize for giving more attention to my other games. I will do my besat to not let that happen any more.Ripley wrote:.............
We do know. He has made 11 posts in other games since his last post in this game. You can use the Search option to find out stuff like this.Beanbagboy wrote:
Lynching lurkers does us nothing. If they are lurking, yet online, that says something, but for all we know Earwig doesn't frequent the site.
And his FOS on Khelvaster seemed like an obviously easy pick to FOS because you can't do a light skim over this game without running into a least one or two posts that show people voicing suspicion on Khelvaster. I think Earwig wanted to provide a post in which he actually did something, and so he chose an innocent looking FOS on someone that many people find suspicious so as to avoid suspicion on his own.I put the "laughter" in manslaughter.-

I was doing a quick skim through, and I came acrost this interesting post.
While it could be considered over-reaching, I thought I would voice my opinion on this one. I have suspicion that we have some distantcing scum here. One person acts extremely scummy, gets a bunch of votes on him, and then, with a lynch -1, another scum casually, and after much discussion, puts the hammer down, thereby attempting to clear his own name. This is a strategy I have seen before, where the mafia discussed it beforehand that one person would sacrifice themselves. I don't know if it is the case here, but it seems strange that Khelvaster would worry about the "bandwagon" of two people switching to Earwig. I can only deduce that, assuming that my scenario above is true, that Khlevaster's job is to get the town to vote for him, and then another, eg. Earwig, would put the hammer down. But it is only speculation. What does the rest of the town think?Khelvaster wrote:I don't really understand why everyone suddenly moved to earwig so fast. Just because he isn't talking much, does that really implicate him in being mafia?I put the "laughter" in manslaughter.-

This was a simple question, phrased using a phrase that my high school physics teacher uses. I said it in that form to be funny, but while still asking a question that I wanted answered. If I were scum and truly forgot how many scum there were, wouldn't I just go check my PM? I just wanted to know how many people to watch out for, that's all.d8P wrote:kab: "I'm old, I forget, how many scum are in this game?
This seemed kinda funny to me when I spotted it this time round, like he was playing innocent, but I couldn't really say why at first. Look at the wording, though. Does this mean, kabenon, that you'd been told how many scum were in the game? We weren't.I put the "laughter" in manslaughter.-

Khelvaster, the only ones who have a lynching agenda are mafia, because no townie would have preset ideas about whole lines of people who they think are scum. Much more information is given out when the first person is lynched, and even more when the second is lynched. We can observed who defended who, or who laid back instead of defending. We need to have a lynch 1 before we should even think about L2 and 3.vote KhelvasterI put the "laughter" in manslaughter.-

No, being suspicious and wanting to see someone lynched are two entirely different things.
Oof, and I'm sorry to have to do this to you guys, butmod: can I get a replacement for myself?
I am going on a trip on which I thought I would have internet access, but I was just told that I won't be able to check as often as is fair to you guys, so I need to ask for a replacement. I know, I know, you guys will all be grief-stricken, in fact, you probably won't even be able to finish the game... but I want you to carry on! Kill the scum! I hope I can play with you guys again in the future.I put the "laughter" in manslaughter.-

Okay, my final analysis...
Aimee-extremely protown, but she is very experienced, could be a front
beanbagboy- a fun guy to be playing with, even if he is scum He doesn't appear scummy to me, just overeager.
Coppélia- Her analysis is very good, and she knows a lot about the game, but she doesn't strike me as scum, but she is very good, who knows?
d8P-Defends himself well, doesn't seem overly defensive, which is something I find scummy.
Earwig- I think Earwig is scum due to his lurking while posting elsewhere, and then I found that he tended to i
kabenon007- oh, a townie through and through!
Khelvaster- um, yeah, I think he is scum as well, because he eliminates the possibility of gaining information from a lynch in his lynch calendar. And, in my opinion, only scum sit at home and go : "Hm, today I think I'll lynch this guy, tomorrow this one..." haha, a joke, I kid the Khelvaster!
MightyFireball- Hmm, couldn't get much of a read on him. He struck as pro-town, but I really have no read on him. If you're scum, you fooled me.
pickemgenius- Not much of a say here. I feel his is town. He's either town, or a very good scum.
Ripley- Ripley is full of good information. Even if he is scum, in this game he has been providing good information, which helps the town out anyway.
shadyforce- He was gone for a while, so not much on him.
Shanba- Shanba... was not gone, but due to lack of posts, no read. Oh, his avatar is creepy! Scummm!!!!I put the "laughter" in manslaughter.
