Also, a watchman being dead is harsh.

Looking over the game setup, having the masons claim day 1 seemed like a good option to me. Now, that's impossible. Weak.

Vote: StallingChamp
Also, they seem to be more like trackers than COPs, making them more useless.

And I did have a good reason for suggesting the masons should come out.... I didn't read the whole PM. I thought it just said they could communicate at night, not that they could do anything useful.

Of course, now that I
have
read the PM I still think it would be a good idea for the remaining Watchman to come out. We have a doctor, and that gives her/him someone to protect. The watchman's powers are limited, but as a confirmed innocent s/he could perhaps be more powerful. The odds of hitting the doc are pretty low.

PS- I'll save the next four people to view this thread the trouble and go ahead and say "OMG! That suggestion is SOOOOOO scummy,
FOS Lowell
"

Seriously, though, I think this makes sense. If I recall, this basic strategy is how newbie games were broken, so I don't see why it wouldn't work here. Discuss.

Atticus wrote:In 358, mikanoff and Lowell were masons. When Lowell felt he was near death, he claimed and outed his mason partner. This gave the town a pretty large advantage.

However, it's just my assumption that he felt it would be a good idea here because of that.
That's right. The game is still going, if you're interested in seeing how it has played out. With about seven people left I'm the only confirmed innocent, and I think it does give the town a distinct advantage. Keeping the masons secret totally destroys any advantages of the position.

Again, here the situation is different, since we essentially have no masons anymore. Instead, this is more of a DOC/COP combination, which in my opinion is an even better time to come out. I've been told that they had to change the style of the newbie games (to 50% doc and 50% cop) because this "claim and protect" strategy was too effective.
jack wrote:Hmm here's the way I see it though. Werewolves choose from 8 players. They have a 1/4 chance of killing a player with a power role. If watchman claims, they have a 1/7 chance. Isn't that fairly significant?
This is exactly the right logic behind the move. The werewolves have a 14% chance of finding a power role as opposed to a 25% chance. Oh, and
UNVOTE
. Not only that, they have ZERO chance of getting the remaining COP role. What good would our herbalist be if that happened?

You guys are overthinking this.

Oh, man, I fell for Stalling's brilliant trap. Touche, great sir.

Seriously, people. Vote stands. Nobody confesses to being scum to "start conversation". What's the conversation? "Oh, you're scum, okay, I vote you."

Thanks everyone for dropping my plan to make sure the COP is actually safe, then questioning slaking_master's (oops, I mean, NOT slaking_master) confession of guilt. Top notch crew we got here.

Seriously, though, don't hammer yet. Not until someone explains to me why we want to have TWO vulnerable power roles tonight.

And I'll continue to do so. The longer we wait the better the chances of scum finding a power role.

Or does the idea of a confirmed innocent power role scare you??

Well, again, that cuts both ways. If the cop is relatively useless outed, s/he's also relatively useless as a secret. I would argue moreso in that case.

Regardless, the goal should be to protect the cop, powerful or not. C'meerre, copper copper copper.

I'm going to keep pushing this until I have something better to do.

No, Jack has it right.

CoolBot is not only accusing my plan of being stupid (which it isn't), but is using that as a cover to vote for me. Look, clearly a LOT of people don't agree with my plan, for whatever reason. No others, however, think that I should be lynched for bringing it up. He's clearly not searching for scum, he's searching for his own enemies.

Oooh, a wagon. Finally, the popularity I crave!

Here's why a deadline isn't going to work. All the scum are going to lurk/pretend not to know the game has restarted/play dumb/etc. I will get killed because I'll have 3 votes or whatever, and this "discussion", which actually would be useful, will never happen.

Get your damn votes off me.
