Is there anything better than an afternoon spent watching a good episode of Matlock? If you want to believe the geezers over at the local nursing home the answer seems to be no. But you know better than to believe them. Never trust anyone over 20, that's what you say!

Unfortunately it seems that you can't trust everyone under 20 either. Somehow in your tight-knit group of friends it seems that the ADHD mafia has managed to plant two goons. They probably don't have the attention span to be all that dangerous but you feel that you'd better nip this thing in the bud now with the time honor method of feeding them to the Trolls that live under the nearby bridge.

Of course if you do manage to finish one off that'll probably angry the other up. Mind you inaction won't be any better; if there's anything the ADHD mafia hates it's inaction. It's quite the dilemma really. Especially when you add in the fact that you're not actually sure who they are.

Ah well, you'll sort that out later, for now it's time to head over to the bridge. However this turns out it's liable to go quickly.

Game Rules (modified from Vel-Rahn Koon’s rules):


Unusal Rule that gets listed first so no one misses it:
  1. This game is nightless. Although the thread will be locked after a lynch for a death scene the next day will start as soon as that scene is posted. Any actions that would normally take place during the night (i.e. Mafia Kills) must be submitted via PM to the moderator before the last vote is cast for the lynch in order to go through.
Mod Note: Once one mafia member has been lynched the other goon will get to kill each day (including the one in which the first goon was lynched) for the remainder of the game.



General Gameplay and Etiquette:
  1. You may not quote private Moderator-supplied information (either real or fabricated) of any kind. Paraphrasing (for role claims, etc.) is acceptable.
  2. There is to be NO personal communication outside of the forum postings unless your role PM specifically allows it. Mafia members may communicate in their quick topic at any time during the game.
  3. As a general rule you should aim for one post every 48 hours, minimum, to keep the game moving.
Voting, Deadlines, and Player Death:
  1. A simple majority of all living members must agree on one person for a lynch to occur
  2. Once you have reached a simple majority no further unvoting will change someone’s fate.
  3. Once a player is lynched the game enters twilight until I post a death scene; all players including the one who was lynched may continue to post during twilight.
  4. Please submit votes as:
    Vote: PlayerName

    Votes will NOT be counted if they are not bold! Obvious abbreviations or nicknames will be counted so long as they are unambiguous.

  5. Please submit vote revocations as either

    - a simple majority of these vote types are required to end the day without a lynch. Note that if no lynch is chosen the mafia do get a kill even if both are still alive.
  7. This game will have 1 week deadlines. At deadline, the player (or No Lynch) with the most votes will be lynched. In the case of a tie, the tie breaker will be the player who has the first active vote on them. Should there be no active votes at deadline no one will be lynched and the mafia will get a chance to kill even if both are still alive.
  8. Once a player is lynched the game enters twilight until I post a death scene; all players including the one who was lynched may continue to post during twilight.
  9. Once you are killed (either via lynch or by a mafia kill) you may no longer post. This means that you do not even get a “Bah” post. The dead in this game are silent.
Miscellaneous/Mechanics:
  1. Green
    text is reserved for the Mod. No invisible/small text is allowed.
  2. If you have an issue/problem with the game, please PM the Mod privately. Do not post issues/complaints in the game thread.
  3. The Mod may make mistakes - please point out any mistakes gently. Mistakes will be corrected where possible, but sometimes mistakes are made that cannot be reversed. These will stand as final to be commiserated over after the game.
  4. Please bold all requests to the Mod so that they don’t get missed.

  5. Prods of missing players will be issued automatically after 72 hours of no activity or upon request after 48 hours of no activity. A prodded player has 48 hours to respond or risks replacement. A player who has been prodded 3 times is subject to replacement without further notice.
  6. Rules violations will be dealt with according to their severity, up to and including a Modkill.
  7. If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period please post a notice to that effect in the thread.
    Treat this game as a commitment. Be considerate – don’t leave us hanging.

This is a nightless, open, seven player reverse vengeful setup with one week deadlines. Roles consist of 5 vanilla townies and 2 mafia goons. Role messages are as follows:

You are a normal kid, trying to figure out who here is in the ADHD mafia and survive this insanity.
  • Although you do not have any special abilities, your voice and vote are powerful weapons in their own right. Use them to your best advantage!
  • At no time may you privately communicate with any other player.
  • You win when all the Mafia players are gone, whether you survive to the end or not.
The Mod (to two players) wrote:
Mafia Goon

You are a member of the ADHD Mafia along with your partner, <player> the mafia goon. While you're not particularly bloodthirsty you are very protective of your partner and you hate nothing more than inaction. As such you do not get a kill unless your partner gets lynched or the town decides to no lynch at some point.
  • You may communicate with your partner privately at any time here: <quick topic>
  • As this game has no nights you must submit potential kills before a lynch (or no lynch) occurs. If you are not eligible for a night kill then nothing will happen. You may change your submission at any point up to the time when the lynch occurs on a given day. Your kill targets will by default carry over to the next day unless you specify that you don't want them to.
  • You win if you achieve equity with the town before being eliminated.

Roles are now being sent out. As the scum can day talk it will be fine to chat in the thread during confirmations (though votes will not count until Day One officially starts.) Day One will begin when all players have confirmed in thread. If anyone hasn't confirmed within 24 hours I'll look into it. The one week deadline will start when day one officially starts. Mod Note: Looking at the rules and roles I realize that there's a slight ambiguity. Once one of the mafia members in lynched the other goon gets to kill after each remaining day. Once they've lost a partner they become angry and vengeful and remain in that state for the remainder of the game. I figured I should clear this up now before it led to any confusion.

You get up to the top of the bridge and peer down into the gloom. You don't see any of the trolls down there but everyone says they're there (especially the ones under 20 you can trust) so you get to work. Before too long three of you have positioned MafiaSSK at the precipice, ready for someone to commit to a final shove that'll finish him off. The air is thick with tension!

And then he says something about the this being inevitable and how you might as well give him a shove which is just the inspiration that was needed. As he topples over the edge into the waiting darkness he doesn't make any sound at all.

You wait a bit for something to happen below your feet. Eventually something does but it's a far too graphic thing to share with a young audience so the details are left to your imagination. When it's all done you're left with the all too indisputable knowledge that MafiaSSK (despite his name) was not part of the Mafia. Turning to one another you realize that MafiaSSK wasn't being ADHD at the end; clearly he was being emo. Ah well, it's back to the hurling board.

You're all a bit shaken by what you just saw the Trolls do to MafiaSSK. Not shaken enough not to throw someone else off the bridge of course. This time once you've decided that you're going to throw Ellibereth off the edge you get him set up, give him a shove and hide your eyes until after it's all over.

Somehow, while your eyes were closed it seems that Seraphim got pushed off the edge as well. Talk about inconvenient!

At least you know you were right about Ellibereth. Now it's time to find his partner.

Well now you've thrown a member of the mafia to the Trolls and they've thrown one of you to the Trolls and everything should be even right? Is there really any need to keep at this? Sure you came here to get rid of the ADHD mafia but there's just one of them left and they probably won't have the attention span to do anything really horrible on their own. Right?

In any case, the four of you agree that it's time for the killing to stop. You shake hands, you change all your Facebook statuses to Not Lynching My Friends Anymore, you start deciding what you want to do for dinner and turn to take the bridge back into town.

And then someone throws Pomegranate off the bridge, down to the Troll.

I guess this is why you've got to keep at this until the Mafia is completely gone. Time to

This time you don't leave anything to chance. You all keep your eyes fixed on eachother as you talks so that no one can do any surprising throwing off a bridge when you're not expecting it. As a result Nachomamma8 is completely surprised when not only does KittyMo tell Fate to go get on his hands and knees behind him so she can catch him by surprise and push him over but somehow Fate manages to do it despite the fact that he's sure that he's been watching. Nonetheless that's exactly what happens. As Nachomamma8 tumbles over the edge to the waiting maws of the the Trolls below the remaining two friends don't even bother watching him fall. Instead they watch eachother (and their sneaky shadow clones) for signs of treachery.

Eventually they get bored though.

"So you're not in the mafia are you?"

"Nah, I didn't like the benefits they offered for joining. You?"

"No, I didn't get around to sending in my application. Maybe I'll join next year."

"Cool, wanna go ride bikes then?"

"Let's go!"

And so the ADHD Mafia was defeated. For now. And they all went and rode bikes. The end.

So I was pretty pleased with everyone's play for the most part. I'm glad you guys got together the group you did as this felt like a pretty competitive game. I do have to say that sometimes you post a lot. And quickly. And clearly I can't afford to take the naps I love to take if I expect to get the vote counts in at the tops of the pages (but missing them doesn't make me feel too bad and naps are so delightful.)

There was probably a bit of lack of flexibility in the scum strategy but that's most likely due to the pace of the game rather than anything else. I also thought that Nachomamma8 was on the defensive towards the end; he probably could have committed to making the contest him or fate more fully and been in a better position to go for KittyMo's support. As it was he was sort of rolling with the punches it felt like.

I think that day one MafiaSSK probably let himself get lynched a bit easily and I thought that the scum team might be in a decent position based on that and what I felt was largely a lack of connections back to them but it turned out I had that wrong. I also thought it might be a quick end to the game when Fate cast the second vote in MyLo but that didn't happen either.

In any case, it was fun to watch. Thank you all for playing and best of luck in all your games from here on out. The scum team can share their quick topic or not as they see fit.

Oh, and I'm really glad that I went with the mafia get to kill every night after they've had one member die. It feels like there are enough connections after that first death that the game needs to move more quickly and they need to have the ability to eliminate who they want to more readily to have a decent chance. It was the rule set I had in mind when I was writing it up but it is ambiguous. Would you guys have preferred the other way (the mafia only gets a kill on the twilight when one of them is lynched and then not on further twilights unless there's a no lynch) instead?
