Bob's later posts kinda read as misguided town though, so I can also see this first post as town not reading anything and just throwing a vote while thinking of how to make it clever. I do that too

ballpoint's posts here felt like too much at once, trying too hard to be RVS chill... like when someone says "do whatever i don't care" specifically because they do kinda care

before bob started to read townier, I saw this exchange through the lens of scum theatre

forum mafia is basically armchair psychiatry yeah but thats how I felt reading these exchanges :]
Very heavily amused by calling it armchair psychiatry, but it definitely does allude to reading far too much into every little statement like that, very funny
wait if mafia is armchair psychiatry can i count playing it as internship hours

also marquis is town if anyone didn't get the memo yet

Feels a bit weird to conclude so much from a wagon on Brian when they’ve only made 1 post so far and that was after the votes.
Its from my experince from the games i played in 2020 and 2021. Most often that first wagon ended up on town with a few cases with it being on scum. As i said earlier, off the top of my head the ratio of first wagon on scum to first wagon on town was somethign like 1:9. Which was cgeater than the ratio of scum to town for those games.

Those wagons came in all forms town heavy were the scum would jump off quickly, all town, scum heavy and town heavy when the town would be ones to jump off early
So if I'm reading this properly, the analysis is that brian is likely town, with no information to gain on the contents of the wagon?
On balance more likely town. It makes him more likely town but doesnt preclude him from being scum just makes it less likely. Always found it to be a strong early indicator. think of it like roulette wheel, such wagons are far more likely to fall on town compared to the players raw chances

All four players on him are just as likely town as they are scum if the wagon is taken in isolation. If the first rvs wagon had taken more time to form and happened after almost all players had made posts. Then it might be different picture but trying to determine anything from its comp would just be counter productive
fwiw i dont agree with this line of thought at all but i think it maybe makes this person town

Hey Ethel

You expressed some reads day 1 in this game. This surprises me a little compared to our conversations about mafia. Is that because you're starting to understand where they come from, or because you feel like you have to have some?

You expressed some reads day 1 in this game. This surprises me a little compared to our conversations about mafia. Is that because you're starting to understand where they come from, or because you feel like you have to have some?
So formal... am I in trouble, officer?
bites lip

A bit of both, I suppose... I still find it hard to read people I don't know over text, but of course I still have opinions and in this case I just wanted to give a bit of reasoning for my vote so it doesn't look completely random.
If you were in trouble I'm sure you'd know exactly how to get out of it :p I'll have to address you less formally in the future

Thanks for answering, I'm just finding I don't really suspect any of the high posters at the moment so feel like I need to consider alternatives

also, although i feel kind of awkward about saying something like this immediately upon entering the thread, it really feels like the way you're talking you're looking for reasons to not scumread me. is that the case? these comments are outside my expectations for how someone would interact with someone they supposedly think is playing deeply within their scum meta
i would enjoy playing with a town version of you because it's been a long time since i've seen it if ever and i once played with a scum version of you and found the experience dull and disappointing

i'm also just confused by the unwarranted vitriol i didn't think you were a rude person

i don't think that it's strange. what i'm saying is that i think that both your premises (no clear reason) and your conclusion (it's based on my alignment rather than other factors) are wrong.
I'm not the only one finding the reason unclear. As a result I assert that it is unclear.

i've been pretty direct about the things that have bothered me this game. if you don't understand
why
those things would bother me, that's one thing, but to say that there isn't a reason at all wouldn't be accurate.

also (and somewhat ironically), the fact that i can't be annoyed in a game without it seemingly making me look like scum, or the fact that now i feel self conscious about bringing up any complaint or umbrage or anything that even vaguely resembles me saying "this bothers me" – well, that bothers me. i think that overall you're trying to make a personality driven meta read, but (and i say this with no offense) you don't really have the requisite understanding to make an accurate one. again, i would like to stop talking about myself as soon as humanly possible, but when the reason that i seem to be getting scumread isn't just based on my content but is based on
me myself
and my personality, i sort of have to say something.

also, to ask again – do you think i've been rude this game? genuine question, not really even game related.
You seem really upset at Firebringer for basically nothing and it does feel unkind from where I'm sitting yes

I tried reading those nsg posts, but I was struggling to understand them, they just felt a lot more like just trying to discourage someone from making reads than "hey you have no reads, what are you thinking" and I had flashbacks to when people would get me going on a tangent and then I'd just be so out of the mood for making reads/caring.
I'm not "trying that hard to find a sr on you"
I'm playing a game with a table of lots of people I know, which I already struggle at reading, so I'm trying to see yall as town, and letting yall know where my concerns are
i don't really know how to respond to you accusing me of something i didn't do so i'm just going to disengage

You think you can escape
My scrutinizing gaze
Which sees beneath the drape
And pierces through the haze?

You try to hide from me
Your feelings and your thoughts
You think that I won't see
And won't connect the dots?

Ha - don't make me laugh
It's all to no avail
I'm perfect in my craft
I never doubt nor fail

Await my judgement now
There's nothing to refute
With certainty I know -
You're lovable and cute!
The sheer arrogance to think you could definitely know such a thing! <3

also, for those of you who are taking neighbor as AI i have two comments
1. it's not and you're wrong for thinking like that (this is a blanket disclaimer i have to give anytime someone tries this line of reasoning)
but also
2. std and norwe are probably also neighbors so you might wanna factor that in

I am genuinely highly confident cephy is not scum, I do not think he would be so expressive of his defeat if he was scum because he'd probably not do something so expressive, and would instead try to appear proactive and contributory. That's my current thoughts at least
you're CONFIDENT ceph isn't scum? I can't recall a single past game he has played like this, idk, he was fine till d2 here, d2 I'm just like "what are you doing?" cause it feels like he's gonna use this "I feel defeated" mindset as an excuse to not do much here. I don't get your high confidence in this, especially after you were just on the enchant wagon. was that a high confidence scum read?
you say this but i feel like i just got over it and did plenty so how am i using it as an excuse to not do anything

and I'm not gonna bother trying to win cause I flipped enchant and I need death before brian and norwee do. norwee's push on nsg is super disingenuous imo. but I can't even say that cause last gameday I was like 'okay i dont fully agree with firebringer's perspective but I guess that's a good flip', but ofc norwee was just inflating it meh. and I e-1ed enchant like a scumsiding idiot.

Why do you think scum would kill them?
i already gave my thoughts on this and no one liked them and i think maybe there is scum motivation to get me back on this topic so i will pass thank you.
In post 1222, NorwegianboyEE wrote: Wait… what if StD and Cephrir are so awkward with reading each other this game because they are SCUM partners?!

i disagreed so much with this take from StD.
ceph openning this day made me downgrade from being in his pocket to now just staring at him from afar
*puppy dog eyes*
the pockets are warm
In post 1235, Firebringer wrote: I guess I can see an angle on StD being scum but its literally only because of his interactions with Ceph
And that requires Ceph town.
Also it requires me to really understand how StD reads Ceph, which i dont think i have. Because im really basing of that StD likes posts I don't like and i don't see the reason why he liks them.

Ceph is like my cornerstone of reading people for a few players now i think. Much wow.
Which is strange cause i am only pushing ceph back up my town ladder because of those takes other people give.

Maybe i am just a contrarian
you are clearly a contrarian do you not know this about yourself

i dont know how std reads me either but he's good
In post 1240, Firebringer wrote: too many people are kind of letting andante run wild.
Need some town leaders and i don't nominate myself.

If ceph is town i want him to lead this day.
if he is scum, then he can continue just side commenting and shit that i feel he is doing.
leadership is hard and scary. we are lacking in natural leaders tho and that is usually when i step up
on the other hand what if they killed MT so that i would have no contest in leading us to hell because my reads suck.

fwiw i dont think it's strange at all that elpis thinks they know exactly how i would behave as town; they are pretty confident in their knowledge of me as a human and frequently have correct assessments of how i feel about something before i even tell them, so founded or not im not surprised to see that take from them

I'm in a fair bit of agreement with Cephir here.

I suppose we can see what MT has to say, since she's already posting as I type this. Although the alternative, Ethel, seems to be a wagon based on playstyle difference?

I think the tone of his posts is kind of fuckery (as in it feels monotone and hard for me to figure out) and his explanation of why ceph couldn't be scum felt like a scum arguing for townie to me.
I've gotten the same feeling from Elpis' posts. It's like, he's never played a game with Cephrir (at least on this site), but he acts like he knows everything a town Ceph would or wouldn't do. It feels like he's spewing TMI and I do think it's possible he could be trying to buddy Cephrir.
gives up too quickly on ethel townread when voting her was popular & discrediting elpis' ability to read me because it doesn't work with his agenda?

The sequence of events of this game (eliminating a vig, never getting to clear either of them and have a day with that, losing a mislim to the vig shot) is a tragedy

nah we're eliminating the neighbor because the neighbor was literally trying to lim ethel/dragons...
So what. You honestly wouldn’t think scum wouldn’t be in neighbours if you were town in my situation? You’d just freaking expect that Radiantcowbells planted 4 town neighbours? He owned us with his setup. Made us look like idiots. And the final cherry on the cake will be when you inevitably paranoia vote me and scum double votes and game ends in fucking final town neighbour flip.
If there are 4 town neighbors I don't look dumb at all thank you very much

Maybe we should actually lim today I don't feel like having town-andante in a situation where one misvote ends the game is like ideal (no offense)

I think the vig hood is really cute. It's like our reward for having a vig not shoot their neighbor is a masonry.

Too bad it worked out this way

elpis showed in their first game that they are a convincing scum player

one weakness i noticed was that they didn't seem quite sure what to do with their partner

in this game, they quite unceremoniously bussed NM if scum. unfortunate, it was NM, and not a slot with longevity, which is to say probably the easiest partner to bus convincingly in the entire world. so they certainly could have found their way to this

it's almost like we don't have a scum flip to work with at all
