Newbie 942 -- Vengeance, NV (Game Over)

I don't have much commentary on the game itself. It seemed fairly standard for a Newbie game. I thought the amount of prodding I had to do was exceptionally high and unnecessary. I prodded every player in this game at least once (with the exception of LynchMePls I believe), and multiple people needed more than one prod. It seemed to me like the town was never really given the opportunity to argue amongst itself. I guess during the first day there was some back and forth, but I felt like the town was able to hash out its differences without ever digging itself into too deep of a hole.

Anyways, thanks to everyone who stuck around until they died or until the end of the game!

Good game town. I totally imploded on D2. My seizure really did something to my brain and my memory was a mess for about two weeks after wards and I really struggled in all my games, especially this one. I just couldn't get back into it. I knew my comment about being setup would raise eyebrows and people would call me scummy for it, I just didn't know that it was one of Cliquey's all time scumtells. I knew I wasn't going to make it through the day so I was trying to play it one of two ways: scummy enough that people would be suspicious of me all day but not willing to vote me, then claim doctor once it was getting to the deadline and hope to just mess everything up and either no lynch or hastily lynch the wrong person or just play scummy enough and try and make an opening for skeith to be the first to vote for me and get my wagon started. Of course, I didn't say anything to him about specifically starting my wagon in our QT but just to be a part of it.

Oh well. Good game. I take the responsibility for the scum loss on that one. Hopefully skeith hasn't falled off the face of the planet due to my play. lol.

xvart, sorry to hear about your seizure. I felt you played really well. Event though I was pretty sure you were scum, I still had a shadow of doubt, and that was when there were 2 scum in 4 players.

I think Skeith looked guilty because he played fairly well and with lots of enthusiasm early in the game, but once people started calling him likely scum he just clamed up. I know when you are scum it can be really difficult to stay calm in the face of heavy suspicion.

I had a lot of fun this game. Thanks to the players and especially the Mod. My one frustration is that I still feel Cliquey's play was borderline abusive to some players, and definitely didn't foster a welcome feeling for new comers IMO. I regret arguing about it during hte game because it became a distraction to the town.

Thanks, LMP. I could tell that had that shadow of a doubt when you unvoted me twice. I was hoping skeith would hope on my wagon one of those times with some strong post about me being scum. Once I started to get my wits about me D2 I knew I was in trouble so I started playing so I could claim cop the next day in hopes that the doctor was around, or if that failed, at least draw out the real cop so skeith could kill him the next night.

I also understand your frustration about the slow pace of the game. I believe my first game on this site in the newbie forum was pretty slow at times, too. I think that was one of the reasons I had so much trouble getting back into the game. I also wonder if I would have been better off had I not resigned myself and not throwing out some pretty obvious scum things on D3 to keep the focus on me. Once Cliquey hammered on and on about the gloating I knew I shouldn't have said that, but I truly thought it would be "what a scummy thing to say" and then move on after a little debate about it.

Good game, town, I'm pleased with how it went. Thanks for modding, RedCoyote, you did a good job! My only comment on reflection is that town were probably helped a bit too much by your telling them I investigated LMP on night two, as this let them figure out that I probably investigated Cliquey night one. However, it sounds like that wasn't scum's biggest worry as it turns out.

I could have probably been more active, but was busy with university study and so this game suffered. Sorry about that.

Heh, reading scumchat, I would like to offer some justification for investigating who I did. I was pretty sure Skeith was scum, and on day two I became sure that Xvart was the second scum. Sorry. However, I wasn't 100% and so for whatever reason chose to take the route of investigating people I thought were 'possibly but not probably' scum - on reflection, this might not have been optimal play, but it ensured I didn't get into a shouting match with Cliquey day two.

Well I guess I underestimated JVW. My play got messed up because of personal reasons (cough* cough* Accounting Terror Prof) and because I slipped up when I was under pressure. I find it sad that all the other initial new players quit (Hades manno robi and betagold). I hope to play with you all again next time.

I think JVW was MVP. That post I threw together of him "speaking from beyond the grave" was pretty good. Don't get me wrong, Cliquey was pretty darn good too.

Yeah, that was my bad. I did it in the last game I modded, but then I forgot the reason I did it was because the person the cop investigated was dead.

Yeah, I figured as much. I figured it was worth a try once I realized that waiting until the end of the day would seem scummy since all the attention was focused on me. I thought that since we were in LYLO it would seem more town to just come out with it like a mass claim.

Mass claims in lylo are generally worthless for town, in my experience - there's no way to test claims safely with a lynch, and scum either know or can guess pretty well what the setup is anyway, which takes all the point out of them.
