Rules Summary:

Players

In order to join a forming game, simply post in this thread saying "/in for GAMENAME". If you do not have a preference for which setup you play in, you may just post "/in" and you will be placed in whichever game fills first.

There is currently no limit for the number of games you may play at the same time. However, keep the following in mind before signing up:

1. Consider your schedule before signing up for any game. A single game of Mafia on the forums will take months to finish.
2. Read any available information on the game or game type before joining a game. Some games have specific rules or requirements that you may not be able to satisfy.
3. Know your limits. Don't sign up for more games than you can handle. You are expected to be involved in your games, not just post meaningless comments every few days.

Moderators

In order to join the Moderator Waiting List for Open Games, simply post "/in to Mod". If you do not specify that you wish to Moderate, it will be assumed that you want to play.

When you sign up to Moderate, you will not be tied to a particular setup, but instead when it is your turn you will take the next full game.

The sole responsibility for Moderators of Open Games is to manage the game. This includes sending Role PMs, keeping frequent Vote Counts, and prodding/replacing Players as set out in the Game Rules.

Moderators may write "flavor" in the form of death scenes, keeping in mind that these should take place in a Mafia setting and should not give away any information that the Players should not have.

Signups are now open for Vanilla Mafia 1 (17 Players).

With Moderator requirements increasing, new Mods that were signed up for the Mini Theme or Large Normal lists will be receiving PMs at some point requesting that they switch to a different list; these Mods will be given priority on this Mod list. Combined with the fact that the Nomination process is barely underway, it will probably be a few days before any other games are available for signups.

For now, these will be played in New York or Little Italy, depending on size.

Can I be /in to mod if I will be modding a mini game around the same time?

You can be queueing or running a game from two lists at once if you have prior experience (which you do).

New moderators must have been active on the site for at least three months and completed at least one game on mafiascum.net as a player.

Each of the Mafia Switches can choose to block one of the pro-town roles from using his ability (so one decides whether the Vig can kill, one decides whether the Cop can investigate, one decides whether the Doc can protect). The Serial Killer can decide whether each of the Mafia Switches is able to block.

What happens after the Serial Killer dies?

The Mafia can no longer be prevented from blocking.

And that basically means that all of the town roles can't (or likely won't be) used until after the corresponding mafia member is killed, or if the SK sees it fit to be used, correct?

The town roles are used if the SK blocks the corresponding Mafia from blocking, or if the corresponding Mafia doesn't block (whether because he's dead and thus unable to, or because he chooses not to; remember, the pro-town roles affect the SK too).

Cop C9 is full, I'll update that when I'm more awake.

Well, there's four main possibilities:

1. Scum can't talk at all. (This would be my pick, at least for the first game.)
2. Scum can talk all the time.
3. Scum can talk in a pre-game period only.
4. Scum get some set time after each lynch to talk (but this doesn't fit so much with "Nightless", as you could call this period "Night").

I think the only realistic way to enforce a deadline would be to say whoever has the most votes gets lynched at deadline, no matter how few votes they have; but I would just leave it up to the players. Eventually they'll get tired of talking and lynch someone.

The rule for all the other lists (except Newbie, which is a different beast) is that you can only be signed up or running a game once per list. That was meant to apply here (I just never explicitly stated it).

Storms hit Jackson pretty hard on Friday around noon, and our house still doesn't have power. I ran up to work (where I'm posting this from) to get a warm shower and post here, but access may be very limited until I get power (and work promises to be very busy tomorrow). Thanks.
