Mind Screw Mafia 4 Frequently Asked Questions:

1) What the fuck is going on here?

That's a very good question, isn't it?

2) What do you mean, you can't tell me any of the other rules?

Mao?

3) So should I assume that there aren't any rules at all?

Not necessarily. I recommend you look up a little piece of philosophy called Pascal's Wager. It might be somewhat relevant to this situation. Also, check your history again.

4) But you're not God!

Present day... present time... *cackles evilly*

5) Will you at least tell us how many votes it is to lynch?

Don't make me smite you.

6) When is our deadline?

Once again, I would like to remind you that I cannot tell you any of the other rules. Don't worry, only a bastard Mod would let a deadline sneak up on you without any warning... while requiring a full majority for a lynch... and having a role in the game that becomes the sole winner should you no lynch...

... hmm, maybe you should lynch really, really quickly.

7) I saw your ruleset in Mind Screw Mafia 3. Can I assume that your rules here are similar?

You could assume, yes... but we know what they say about assuming...

8) What the heck is this "Rules Infraction" I see added onto my post?

It might be an indicator that you screwed up and broke the rules somehow. It might be the result of a game mechanic.

Or, it might be that your Mod is a bastard Mod and is just placing "Rules Infraction" at the end of random posts.

You decide!

10) Why are you not allowed to tell us any of the other rules?

Please report to your local reeducation camp for immediate remedial training, Comrade.

11) So, I have a night action. When should I send it in to you?

Read your role PM again, it should be informative.

12) Why does it say that I need to send in the post count on which I want to use my ability?

Because some roles...
wait a minute
... where did you hear this again? I think a member of our glorious revolution needs to be sent to the reeducation camps...
lackeys shouldn't be sending information that requires ultraviolet clearance to those without ultraviolet clearance...

13) Will you get rid of that goddamn haiku rule already?

What makes you think I haven't? (Besides the fact that it's funny, that is.)

14) What happens when I change my avatar/signature/location without using the action listed in my role PM?

That's for me to know, and you to find out. HINT: You really don't want to find out.

15) What's this about not saying Candle Jack's name? Is it cur

DON'T SAY HIS NAME!

Update:

All but four players have confirmed. Of those four: Maemuki is V/LA and will be given extra time ([REDACTED] days) to confirm. Gorrad, malthusis, and Boxman all appear to have flaked the site; I will replace them shortly unless I see them confirm within a very short time period.

I hope to start the game by [REDACTED]. - Tar

"You speak of knowledge, Judicator? You speak of experience? I have journeyed in the darkness between the most distant stars. I have beheld the birth of negative suns and born witness to the entropy of entire realities. Unto my experience, Aldaris, all that you have built here on Aiur is but a fleeting dream... a dream from which your precious Conclave shall awaken, finding itself drowned in a greater nightmare."

Plum replaces malthusis, raider8169 replaces Boxman, and hp [leaves] replaces Boxman. - Tar

Its not scummy to do this as I have a meta of always voting for mods, and therefor I am allowed.

No one else is allowed without scrutiny from me because I shall hide behind my meta.
No this is obviously not a logical fallacy.

Well, besides the obvious that is:

Oh, and

Well, that's weird.

Weren't there only 25 player slots? Why are there 27 players?

We WILL lynch him. This is not up for debate.

Premise: Tarhalindur knows he can and very well may be lynched.
Premise: Tarhalindur has been lynchable in every Mind Screw game prior to this one.
Premise: Tarhalindur is a strong proponent of the idea that if a mod is acting as a player, they MUST be self-aligned, aka neutral.
Premise: Lynching neutrals is almost as good as lynching scum.
Conclusion: Lynching Tarhalindur is in the town's best interest.

Eh, that's not completely true. Though not officially 'canon' Mind Screw games, Tar's uPick Mini Madness game did NOT have the mod as a player. In a Marathon game he ran, the Mod was a jesterbomb. So it's not completely in the town's best interest, necessarily.

And only Sith deal in absolutes.

Yes, but it's not like we'll lose anything. I doubt that he would push the jesternomb again.

Tar's upick was not run as a mind screw. It was run based on the premise of multiple-phase roles. Also, mod-Jester-bomb in a large game that probably months were spent balancing, and will probably run for months is FAR less likely than mod-jester-bomb in a quickly created marathon game that'll be over in an hour or two.

But there are a number of other nasty things he could do.

And yeah, I'm playing Devil's Advocate here and think that the mysterious new players should be under heavy scrutiny right now.
