I don't think I've actually been taken off the Centurion list since modding my first newbie, I've almost always been modding one. :s It also took me a week to realise I could edit every post including the OP in the queue but at least I declared it and didn't touch anything.

Let's distort logic some more: Fate should be the admin since you tend to expect the admin to be the most prevalent figure on site (Fate has the highest number of posts).

Magua won that category I thought? Not that marketplace mafia wasn't cool. But Team Mafia deserved to win; there is no doubt in my mind. I'm still upset that it did not, but I don't think hashing it out in public is really the right call. I have no desire to take anything away from another talented mod, which is what it could comes across as in this thread -- thus the request for a PM conversation.

As for psychic mafia winning, it was the town that won that, not the actual game. And given that the town steam rolled a fairly well thought of group of guys, it doesn't seem unreasonable that they won there.

For what it's worth, I agree with you. I was outnumbered.

Others argued that it wasn't really a new "mechanic," just kind of like an out-of-game hydra. They said it didn't inherently change the way the game was played, in the thread, and I just ... well, totally disagreed.

I definitely didn't feel like the games were a hydra at all. It was so different for me, and it plays mind tricks - for example, "mith would never put his buddy at L-1" ... but Hoopla might.

How the hydra actually works is different from how Team Mafia worked. So different.

A hydra is equal. Team Mafia, you still had precedence over your own game. For example, I did not suspect Sociopath D1 in White Flag, but Klazam did, and it was totally cool for him to ignore my "omg lynch dgbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb" in the QT because it was HIS GAME and HIS SLOT and I couldn't come in and go "YO JUST KIDDING DGB IS SCUM"

For me, it doesn't really matter how different it IS, but rather how different it FEELS.

I think the players all approached it in a fresh, excited way. They played the game differently.

That's what matters (to me).

The new mechanic (and it WAS new, despite having basis in older mechanics, just like everything including the game that actually won) excited everyone so much that it changed how they played the game. That was the INTENT of the mechanic, not an accidental byproduct.

No ... it wasn't that it was popular. It was the new player dynamics, the mechanic itself.

The entire point of the mechanic was to invent a new way of playing, a new meta, and new player dynamics. It succeed. That's all I'm saying.
