Player:q21
Game:War in Heaven II
Award:EitherBest Effort in a Losing CauseorBest SK, despite the fact that he ended up losing.
Details:q21 got an SK role (Satan) in a 20-player mostly-Nightless game. In addition to that, he had to deal with a posting restriction, and that his kill-method looked decidedly anti-town. He managed to play middle of the road for the first half of the game, then claimedMichael the Archangelto explain his extra abilities. If things had gone just a hair different, he'd have locked up the endgame and won handily. I gave him an extremely difficult role and he didn't bitch about it once, but played it to the hilt.-

I'm not sure they always liked it (I heard more "oh god kill me now" in this game than any other I've run, and that includes Lost Boys), but they certainly engaged with it! And right up until the end of the game it was anybody's game to win...Adel wrote:y'all must have really liked it.
Some days had more than 400 posts. No, not Game Days; 24-hour periods.-

I think it's usually done for the finesse of the role claim itself; if it has a huge impact on the game it tends to get rolled into one of the 'bigger' Scummies like Best Individual Performance. YMMV.Simenon wrote:What is the Best Role Claim award for- the finesse of the claim itself, or its impact on the game?Retired as of October 2014.-

Fixed for you. (I know we don't do anti-nominations, but...)Slicey wrote:Thirded. Most complicated game ever run to completion.
I don't think it's a good example of a Scummy-winning game, and it eventually boiled down to a Game Mechanics puzzle. There was almost no scumhunting, which helped lead to a bizarre 7-man endgame and Scum win.Retired as of October 2014.-

It was last year, by mith at least.
It would probably help if it was under Site Awards, to emphasize the global nature of the qualifications.Retired as of October 2014.-

He didn't say activity for activity's sake; he said it was an enjoyable level. Considering all the complaints we've had recently about games dragging, what do you think the unintended side effects will be?shaft.ed wrote:While activity is a good thing, giving out awards for it is not a great idea. Having competitive levels of posting throughout games could have unintended side effects.

Activity makes a game, and we (Me and the rest of the players) made that game happen. I enjoyed reading it to the very end, even though I did get lynched Day 1.Seconded.Retired as of October 2014.-

Oh, that's not how I read that at all. In previous years there have been fifths, sixths, sevenths, which just spam up the thread. Mith's point is that it doesn't add anything to the nomination to have those vocal supports.Vi wrote:
I'm pretty sure that's the implication of "we don't pay attention to fourthing, fifthing, or Nthing of nominations".Mr. Flay wrote:
Are you serious? Where is this mentioned?Vi wrote:Don't forget - nominations that aren't thirded aren't judged!
If he's said that thirds are required or the Scummy Planning Team has decided something else, that's cool.Retired as of October 2014.
