We really need to clear up the whole 'best newbie thing' and decide properly whether it rewards a single performance by a newbie, or is like a 'rookie of the year.'
How about splitting into:
Best New Player (for performance over the year)
Best Newbie Performance ('The Natural' Award or something) for a single performance in a game, with that game having to begin within three months of the player's joining.-

Nominate: Greasy Spot
Award: funniest claim
For this doozy:
From Open 61, which was a mountainous game. Here's the deal. I will role claim. I am a Townie. This could help the town if you let it. The mafia now knows I am a townie and will be a target for a night kill if I am not lynched. I am telling you this so as a town you can use this lynch vote to vote a mafia member out. If it doesn't work and the town is not happy, you may vote me out in Day 2 and I won't try to stop you.-

Not true. Claiming townie in a normal game actually has some effect. In a mountainous game, a townie claim doesn't mean anything, and the fact that Greasy Spot thought because he claimed townie, a) it would clear him b) 'the mafia will now know i'm a townie' AND C) that that information would make him a more likely NK target, is just laughable.pickemgenius wrote: Townie claim in a mountainous is crazy? Do you find it hilarious everytime someone claims townie? Because townies are in every game, and like claiming one in a mountainous is about the same as claiming one in an other ordinary game.

True. Frankly, I wouldn't be expecting to see any serious paragon/dc nominations until the autumn.Guardian wrote:
I disagree completely. Best Performance and Paragon/Don C are completely different to me. Best Performance equate to a flash a brilliance for one game. The other two equate to a good year.Mr. Flay wrote:I think it would be best if Best Performance ("Oscar") went to a group effort, now that we have both the Paragon of Mafia Hunters and Don Corleone awards (plus Best SK). So far, I've organized nominations that way, to avoid too much repetition...-

Nominate: Battle Mage
For best SK, in DGB's Food Fight Mafia.
Anyone winning a large as SK deserves consideration, I think.-
