The problem is that when people don't prioritize PM count for early boots, Goofy. By that I mean the people with low counts end up caring less and end up being completely inactive for the rest of the game, which makes people who are taking these incredibly seriously angry.

By the way, though Goofy was in a Big Brother and not a Survivor, either way his whole game was pretty much posting "hi ^^" on day one and practically nothing else. He got to F2, and if I remember correctly got 2 out of 7 jury votes out of spite. So yeah early activity checks can be bad, especially for newer players, but there is definitely a reason for them.

Yeah, I have no clue what CC was thinking of when he said that the game was going to be newbie friendly. I had my doubts at the time, even if I didn't say anything about it.

First, I want to say that I was voted out before the first swap last time I played, so this is probably not actually useful information. Whenever I play one of these, I try to keep the small talk to a minimum. Generally the conversation topics that I go with are what I think of the theme/characters, my opinion of the game-specific mechanics, and where I think the game is going to go from there, and what impressions I'm getting from other people on the tribe. Though I do end up complaining about site meta a lot in early PM's as well.

Hey, I just had a thought. Maybe I should pretend to be a newbie in all my future games.

It's been done, and it worked. Now people are looking for that gambit.

That reminds me, I was actually kind of serious about this:

BPC [The spectator played by N, not the mod.] gave me an idea: Survivor: Mish Mash Survivor. Anon Survivor where the player options are usernames of anyone who's ever played a Survivor before. Playing in character is recommended. Picking yourself is allowed, but not as your first option, and other people taking it has preference.

Either that or character options are characters from Anon games. If a newbie asks for the mods to pick, give them Chancey and watch what happens when they say it's their first game.

Like, I wouldn't be able to design it, because I'm bad at being creative, and it would also be even less newbie friendly, so it's probably not actually a good idea, but as long as people don't use it as an excuse to be openly hostile (which is a very extreme statement in itself), it could be fairly interesting.
