So, out of a list of the twelve most memorable and quintessential Nintendo totems is one that was created by Sega, once Nintendo's greatest competitor? And does, in fact, belong to the veritable mascot of that same #1 competitor to Nintendo? And the best you can do to justify this is that he cameo'd a couple of times?

Totally fair. I wasn't really arguing you so much as taking an opportunity to fully express just why this was funny.

Also @ CSL: A coin is kinda generic, and we already have two items from Mario Bros.
Maybe something from the Metroid series?
