personally, I don't see a lot of value in coming up with new titles for people who already have titles unless they specifically dislike their current one for some reason, in which case I feel like they should just ask the Title Fairy to revoke their title.

the Title Fairy thread is an aspect of site culture and titles are allowed to be based on just one aspect of site culture. "doot" as a title for vonflare is absolutely a part of this thread's culture. I guess you could make an argument that it's setting a bad precedent that you can gain a particular persona just by trying to convince everyone that it is your persona for well over a year but, like, that's a built-in feature of human culture in general

hey I have a very serious proposal for this thread: how about instead of deliberating for long periods of time about whether a title is right for someone, we instead pick a fun-sounding title and then decide which user will get to have that be their title. my suggestion for the first title chosen in this way is
Cleft in Twain
. I think there's a lot of good possibilities for puns involving a cleft foot or Mark Twain, not to mention the literal meaning of the phrase, so we should have an easy time picking which user gets this title.

I had the title "Nothing Happens", which jeep made my title solely because of the reference to the usage of "xyzzy" as a keyword in various text adventures without me ever actually being nominated for it; I asked to have it removed because I didn't like the idea of having an obscure title that wasn't actually connected to anything I had actually done.

I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to comment on whether or not I would accept it until Psyche weighs in, but some further clarification for historical accuracy: I was away from the site from some time in late 2008 until a couple years ago, so if Thok ever actually contacted me about it, I wasn't around to respond.

I think it's a generally good idea to wait until someone has been on the site for at least a few months before giving them a title so it's clear whether it actually fits or not, especially for something like play style that can evolve over time. also, the argument that BK has experience playing elsewhere and therefore has a solid play style already is fallacious because it implies that play style isn't inextricably linked to site meta — everyone's play style shifts at least a little as they learn what works on the site.
if it's a good title now, it'll be a good title in 3 months.

In post 5741, Mathdino wrote:oh my god then no titles ever should be capitalised due to the rules of english
it's a title, that means you capitalise things
or should your title read "Khan man" because khan is the only proper noun/adjective
I'm sorry but you're objectively wrong. titles of things don't just capitalize every word. your movie analogy is just completely incorrect and bad. the title of the second
Avengers
movie is
Avengers: Age of Ultron
. the "of" isn't capitalized because it's a preposition. there are very simple set rules for how this works
