Because I am fulfilling my role on the committee as the guy who hates everything. Plus, I like your old title.

In general if you have to go hunting to find a title for someone because they've been around a while and you "can't believe they don't have a title yet!" it's because they haven't done anything title worthy and your suggestions will end up being weak and unsatisfying. I have seen this happen lots of times.tout comprendre c'est tout pardonner-

I 100% disagree with that philosophy. A title, imo, is a recognition of a users unique personality on the site. If we can't think of a good way of synthesizing a users unique personality on the site, the most likely explanation is that they don't yet deserve a title, not that we should think harder.
Settling on something that isn't that good is even worse, since people tend not to suggest titles for those that already have them. It means when the user does do something that is title worthy they won't get a title based off of it, and that's super lame.
Titles aren't just candy that everyone gets. They're a recognition of something specific. Trying to recognize something specific when nothing specific has happened yet is the actual silly part.tout comprendre c'est tout pardonner-

I don't know, I think that's as much a reflection of how hard it is to get titles out than anything else. If titles were given more freely, no one would be concerned about finding a new one for a user and going through the annoyance that involves.
Anyway, I'm not arguing for just giving them out willy nilly. Quality control is an okay thing -- as many bad titles as there are there are far worse ones that are suggested. I'm just saying that we as a group should stop trying to act like titles are some sacrosanct thing that must reach super duper levels of awesome.
Mediocrity overall is okay because in general the people who get their titles (and those involved with whatever it's based on) think they're more than that.
That said, Khan Man is terrible.
Translation: If they weren't as special, no one would care. This is not the winning argument for giving them out more freely that you seem to think it is.tout comprendre c'est tout pardonner-

we have titles for those: "Goon" and "Mafia Scum"
Okay, so I nominate that we have a 3rd title for people who have been on the site 5 years plus.
I recommend "Oldy McOldpants."
I...um...
I actually kind of like this? Maybe not oldy mcoldpants. But I don't mind the idea of a title for someone who doesn't have a title who has been on the site for a long time.tout comprendre c'est tout pardonner-

I personally have no idea who she even is but if that title really fits well and people like it then Hito's or UT's endless folders of gifs shouldn't stop us from awarding it to her. It doesn't matter if the shoe fits someone else, what matters is if the shoe fits her.
