how does this work?

In order to sign up for Team Mafia, you need a four person team. There are no formal ways to form a team: just PM people you want to see as teammates and gauge their response. Once you have a team and team mafia starts, you assign yourselves different roles in different games: you all share a private topic and can talk about all games privately amongst yourselves.
